🇲🇽 A MEXICAN TEENAGER BUILT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER THAT USES SOUND INSTEAD OF WATER OR CHEMICALS A student created “Vortex Tech,” a portable prototype that uses low-frequency sound waves around 30 Hz to disrupt the air feeding small flames. In tests, it put out small fires in roughly 5 to 8 seconds. She built it with her adviser and uncle after getting inspired by a sonic-cannon concept. It’s still an experimental prototype for small fires, but a teenager from Mexico turned bass into a fire extinguisher 😮 Writer: Sol

PART 3 OF 4 | HOW MAHVASH SABET’S MANUSCRIPT LEFT PRISON How was Mahvash Sabet able to write and preserve her memoir while imprisoned in Iran? Speaking to @BBC Newshour, translator Bahiyyih Nakhjavani explains how Sabet wrote on small scraps of paper, including tissue paper and newspaper margins, and concealed the pages among her belongings. With help from fellow prisoners, the writings were gradually taken out of prison over seven years. Following her release in 2017, Sabet transcribed the collected writings into the memoir Open Wide the Doors. 🎧 Listen to Part 3 of our series to hear Nakhjavani explain how the manuscript was written and brought out of prison. 🔴Toomaj Salehi, an Iranian rapper, launched his song “No to Executions,” to protest the death penalty. He had previously been sentenced to death for his artistic expression and protest music, but his death sentence was overturned following international outcry, and he was subsequently released from prison. 🔸Salehi portrays two opposing perspectives in this song: that of a protester calling for an end to executions and that of a government official defending its use. 🔸The song is being shared at a time when politically motivated death sentences and executions in Iran have escalated following the January 2026 protests, raising growing concerns over the Islamic Republic's use of capital punishment to suppress dissent and punish protesters. #NotoExecutions
