“A decision has been taken to increase ex-gratia compensation, based on rank, for police personnel who lose their lives in extremist, terrorist, or anti-social violence. In addition, we have been providing eligible family members of fallen police personnel with government employment, a residential plot, free education for their children in residential institutions, medical facilities, and bus passes. We are also implementing special reservations in medical education for the children of police martyrs. Furthermore, a decision has been taken to provide ₹16 lakh from the Police Bhadratha (Security and Welfare) Fund and an additional ₹8 lakh from the Police Welfare Fund. These are not merely financial benefits. They are a mark of the government’s respect and gratitude for the supreme sacrifices made by our police personnel. “Honouring the sacrifices of our fallen police personnel means more than simply paying tribute to them. We must also ensure financial security for their families and protect the future of their children. Earlier, an ex-gratia compensation of ₹40 lakh was provided to constables who lost their lives in the line of duty. Our government has increased this amount to ₹1 crore. For Head Constables and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), the compensation has been raised from ₹45 lakh to ₹1 crore. For Sub-Inspectors (SIs), the compensation has been increased from ₹45 lakh to ₹1.25 crore, while for Inspectors, it has been raised from ₹50 lakh to ₹1.25 crore. Similarly, for Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and Additional Superintendents of Police, the compensation has been enhanced from ₹50 lakh to ₹1.5 crore. For Superintendents of Police (SPs) and IPS officers, our government has doubled the compensation from ₹1 crore to ₹2 crore. Through these decisions, we are not only strengthening financial support for bereaved families but also expressing our deepest respect for the supreme sacrifices made by our police personnel.
