Well said. Germany shut down decades of energy infrastructure overnight, I bet AI gets the same treatment one day. Politicians change, vision doesn't exist 🔥
AI like like atomic power. Huge potential source of power. Hugely expensive to build. Very tricky to contain. Can be shut down at the whim of a politician wanting to look smart in front of her/his peers.

This is normal behaviour for liberal Christians.
At his church, with the cross of Jesus draped in a transgender pride flag behind him, James talarico delivers a sermon about a poem written by the Islamic mystic Hafiz. #TXsen

There's much chatter about new @ARM laptops from Apple, Microsoft, at al. What about CAD programs that run on ARM? I found one, specifically. Details here on 'WorldCAD Access: Technology + Culture'. upfrontezine.substack.com/p/…

Some parts of Vancouver are ugly. The there is the view this morning from a doctor office, overlooking False Creek, the downtown, and the North Shore mountains.

What it sounds like when an idealogue speaks, when completely disconnected from the world as it truly exists and how humans progress.
Dario Amodei: We may be only two or three years away from AI systems being better than humans at almost all tasks. “I call it a country of geniuses in a data center.” “Imagine tens of thousands of geniuses, smarter than a Nobel Prize winner across many fields.” “They could cure diseases and extend the human lifespan.” “I wouldn’t be surprised if we were able to double the human lifespan.” “They may even build robots for themselves and project themselves into the physical world.” “There are all kinds of questions around the balance of power.”

Tell people there is no such thing as a common system of morals, ethics, and culture, and eventually they believe you. In Paris: "As night fell there was widespread looting. Supermarkets, sports stores and fashion boutiques were stripped of their goods."

Your theoretical opinions or beliefs or the slogans you repeat do not make you a good person. It’s how you treat your friends and family and how you treat others.

"The liberal order requires private Christianity to supply it with civic religion. Our private Christianity has thinned. It supplies only moralism without divine mandate. Our underlying civilizational atheism and its amoralism fails to supply order." - @tommasodi_di

Grand claim. Most code just crashes.

Every time I see the name of British data center @nscale, I think model railroading. I wonder if there is a link? In N scale, everything is 160x smaller than in real life. The German firm @Maerklin went all Swiss-watch when it released Z scale, and it truly was the last scale.

It's not just employees and management at @AnthropicAI and @OpenAI who want muti-trillion dollar IPOs. The banks handling the IPOs want them to be a high as possible, for the fees.

"A good reason to block online ads: They can deliver spyware. Citizen Lab uncovers the first technical evidence of a 'zero-click mercenary spyware' attack circulating via online ads to hit mobile phones." - Michael Kan

Seniors don't take buses. They are the wealthiest generation. They drive EVs and luxury SUVs.
NEW - @Dave_Eby promises to eliminate $45 charge for low-income seniors to access bus passes, and raise threshold on income to let "thousands" more seniors get free bus passes. Plus rapid bus service b/w Surrey-White Rock via @TransLink Plus, a "Surrey Charter"

Reminds me of those guys who run in front of bulls in Spain, where the point is to get gored, so men can boast to friends about getting gored by a bull.

"Various doctrines have attempted to secularize Christian ethics -- utilitarianism, for example. The 'greatest happiness for the greatest number' begs the question of why other people’s happiness should matter. Christianity delivers the answer." - persuasion.community/p/the-s…
