A choice for all means access to the information and options needed to make informed decisions. This World Contraception Day, let’s promote agency, intention, and access by ensuring everyone can make informed choices about contraception without stigma or barriers. It’s your life. Literacy is more than reading and writing. It is the power to understand, question, create, and make informed decisions. In today’s rapidly changing world, being literate also means knowing how to navigate digital spaces, identify reliable information, and think critically about what we see and share. This International Literacy Day, we celebrate the knowledge and skills that empower young people to participate, lead, and create opportunities for themselves and their communities. As we reflect on this year’s focus on literacy for people, the planet, and prosperity, let us continue working towards a future where every young person has access to the knowledge they need to thrive. Not every painful period is “just part of being a girl.” 👀 MYTH: Severe menstrual cramps are normal. FACT: Mild cramps can be common, but intense or persistent pain that disrupts school, work, or everyday life deserves attention. It could be a sign of endometriosis or another underlying condition. Don’t normalise the pain. Listen to your body and seek medical advice. 🩸 #ChaleTakeControl #Endometriosis #SRHR #MenstrualHealth #YouthHealth #CMGhana #CuriousAt30

What does it take to reach adolescents with accurate, age-appropriate reproductive health information? Curious Minds joined the Alliance for Reproductive Health and Rights (ARHR) and fellow advocates to review a draft Reproductive Health Education (RHE) Toolkit for out-of-school adolescents. The session brought together advocates, health workers, and parents to review the Toolkit module by module and map out the barriers standing in the way of adolescents accessing quality RHE online and offline. Sustainable community development begins by listening to the people who understand their communities best. Engaging traditional leaders and local stakeholders helps strengthen collaboration, deepen understanding of community challenges, and identify practical solutions that reflect local realities. As part of the Youth4Gov project, our volunteers met with the chiefs, elders, Assembly Member, and youth of Jisonayili to discuss key development issues affecting the community. Building on earlier engagements with young people, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the dialogue explored concerns including sanitation, drug abuse, inadequate infrastructure, water scarcity, and challenges within the education sector. The engagement also provided an opportunity for community leaders to propose practical, community-led solutions while reaffirming the importance of collaboration between traditional authorities, local government, and young people in advancing inclusive development. By creating spaces for dialogue, Youth4Gov continues to empower communities to turn shared challenges into collective action. #Youth4Gov #CMGhana #YouthParticipation #LocalGovernance #CuriousAt30

Nearly one in three young people in Ghana are not in employment, education, or training, while many others remain vulnerable to child labour and limited opportunities for skills development. To help change this narrative, youth from Goaso and Bibiani participated in a training under the Empowering Young People Against Child Labour Through Civic Engagement and Skills Development project, implemented by Curious Minds Ghana in collaboration with UNICEF. The training equipped participants with knowledge and practical tools to mobilise their peers, promote skills development opportunities through Yoma, and champion efforts to prevent child labour within their communities. 🎥 Watch the video to see how young people are stepping forward as leaders, advocates, and changemakers for a brighter future. #YomaGhana #EndChildLabour #YouthEmpowerment #CMGhana #CuriousAt30

Today, and every other day, we celebrate African Children, and reiterate the truth that every child deserves access to clean water, safe sanitation, and proper hygiene. This year's theme: “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa", reminds us that access to these basic necessities is fundamental to children's health, education, dignity, and overall well-being. As we celebrate the potential of Africa's young people, let us continue to advocate for a future where every child can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and healthy environment. Happy Day of the African Child. #DayOfTheAfricanChild #DAC2026 #WASHForEveryChild #ChildRights #CMGhana #CuriousAt30

Myth: Engaging in governance requires money or political connections. Fact: Participating in governance does not require wealth, influence, or political connections. Simple actions such as attending community meetings, asking questions, raising concerns, and staying informed are rights that every citizen can exercise. While access to networks and information can sometimes shape influence, meaningful civic engagement begins with awareness, persistence, and collective action. Young people do not need a title or special connections to contribute to governance. Informed and active citizens play an important role in shaping decisions and strengthening accountability within their communities. #Youth4Gov #CMGhana #YouthParticipation #LocalGovernance #CuriousAt30

Child labour continues to affect the lives, education, and future opportunities of many young people. Curious Minds is working with UNICEF Ghana and other stakeholders to empower young people through civic engagement and skills development to help address the root causes of child labour and create pathways to brighter futures. On Saturday, our volunteers in Tamale hosted an Outside Broadcast discussion at the Jisonayili Chief Palace on the theme: “Decentralising Community Development: Supporting Youth-Led Initiatives for a Progressive Community.” The discussion highlighted the vital role young people play in driving community development through innovation, volunteerism, civic engagement, and youth-led action. Participants explored how communities can create enabling environments that empower young people to contribute their ideas, skills, and leadership to local development efforts. Facilitated in local languages to ensure meaningful participation, the conversation reiterated the importance of collaboration between community leaders, institutions, and young people in addressing local challenges and advancing sustainable development. Participants also shared experiences and identified practical ways to strengthen youth involvement in community decision-making and development processes. Progressive communities thrive when young people are empowered to lead, participate, and shape solutions that matter. #Youth4Gov #CMGhana #YouthParticipation #LocalGovernance #CuriousAt30

On Friday, our volunteers in Wa, with support from the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), organised an outside broadcasting in the Kperisi Electoral Area on the topic: “Youth Voices Matter: How Can Young People Contribute to Development Without Holding Political Positions.” The discussion explored how young people can contribute to community development through active citizenship, volunteering, advocacy, community engagement, and participation in local governance processes even without holding political office. Participants highlighted the need for more spaces where young people can be heard, involved, and informed about decisions affecting their communities. Some also shared concerns about wanting to contribute to local governance but not knowing where or how to begin. Youth voices matter, and meaningful development becomes possible when young people are empowered to participate. #Youth4Gov #CMGhana #YouthParticipation #LocalGovernance #CuriousAt30
