There are many good things about #SBC23. One of them is this guy. He pastors a church of 29 and has platform time. That wouldn’t have happened 10-20 years ago. As a small church pastor, this is encouraging.
In a hotel filled with baptists, I had a guy here for the next convention sit next to me at breakfast. We started talking and I got to share Jesus with him, pray with him, download the Bible app on his phone, and give him my card #SBC23
Hot take: It’s 1985 all over again. We have one faction saying that we are a convention of liberty, autonomy, and soul competency, and we should be big enough for everyone. We have another faction saying there is liberal drift
In our ranks and we should remove all existing leadership. The difference in #SBC23 and 1985 is there is a third group. Who holds to biblical authority, doesn’t believe in liberal drift and holds a complementarian belief. I believe this is the largest group and…
You know that iphone commercial where the mom is running while videoing her kid running and winning the race and the video is steady and not shaking? I'm more impressed with the mom running sideways through people and keeping up with her kid than with the phone.
Great day today. Started in the baptismal waters. The young man we baptized came to us without any faith background. He’s a soldier and he said that one day on maneuvers it all made sense and he gave his life to Christ.
Middle School youth last night talking about favorite class. He said music history. I said great, what are you learning. He said his favorite part was 80's and 90's music but he kinda likes 70's too. Ouch!
First missed annual meeting in 5 years. Praying for messengers that they hear from God. I have my thoughts and desires on how I think things should go. But I must decrease and He must increase.
Tonight I heard a 60 year old who has been sober for 21 years and who’s salvation we’ve prayed for for 5 years pray and thank God for his sobriety. He also asked God to forgive his sin and tell Christ he wants him to be his savior and lord. Praise the Lord!
