I'm sitting on a roof in the past at night to bring you a new song - or at least an outtake from my last album Blue Nights from 2021. Time is not linear.

This is just laughable. “Collapsing the distance between imagination and execution” - that distance is called Art.
This is the new CEO of Applications at OpenAI writing about creativity.
IMO this is a gross misunderstanding of what it means to be creative.
The fact that our skill sets limit our ability to express our creativity is not some problem to be solved.
Creativity *is* your skill set. It is the result of learning, it is expertise acquired by doing.
Prompting a model is not creativity - it is a commission. There is a world of difference.

As one of the 1,000 musicians (and POSSIBLY you might hear my empty studio on the album 😉) this is sadly a much needed kick up the arse of this government to really look at the impact of their terrible idea to change copyright law to favour AI tech companies over artists...
Along with 1,000 musicians, today we're releasing an (almost) silent album protesting the UK government's plan to upend copyright law to benefit AI companies.
It's an album of recordings of empty studios & performance spaces, representing the effect the govt's plans would have on musicians' livelihoods.
It's called 'Is This What We Want?', and the track list spells out a simple message: "The British Government Must Not Legalise Music Theft To Benefit AI Companies".
Incredibly grateful to the many, many musicians involved 🙌
All profits are going to @HelpMusicians.
Please listen & share!

I sometimes think this is the single biggest influence on me. My grandmother had the record. Terrifying artwork of a dystopian Venice.
Saw this for the 1st time in almost 40 years. I sometimes thought I'd dreamed it and could never track it down due to the half formed childhood memories. Seems like this was the same for many people. Daft Punk-esque disco Baroque classical space robots
