I wish you would stay away from numbers and calculations, Mr Sanyal. I had to review your Land of the Seven Rivers. Astonished me how riddled it was with numbers that made little sense when read together.
His work was funded by Ford Foundation and McArthur Foundation. How many million years would it take to those "100 workers" to match billionaires like Henry Ford and John McArthur? Or is this calculation meant only for the non-white billionaires? Saving Indian souls - backed by western business - is a very old game.....

Democracy isn’t tested in Parliament. It is tested at the campus gate, in the very moment a student asks “why?”
At IIT Bombay, Jamia and AUD, the state answered every democratic question with lathis, detentions and suspensions.
Solidarity with everyone holding the line!

The Tiger Shroff shooter's name is Anil Pandit. A Brahmin. Looks like the Lawrence Bishnoi "saab's" gang is a meritocratic utopia.

A few years ago, Ashu had a high-paying corporate job in London, earning millions. Saurav was writing about the country’s legal system and living a great life. Both had successful careers, financial security and every reason to continue living the lives they had built for themselves.
But they chose to give it all up in the hope of making this country a better place. They had absolutely no reason to leave behind their comfortable lives, take to the streets, face uncertainty and eventually end up in jail. Yet they did.
What I admire most about these two is that despite coming from privileged backgrounds, they chose to fight for those who aren’t as fortunate. They could have easily looked the other way, enjoyed their lives and never bothered about the struggles of people they had never even met. Nobody asked them to make these sacrifices. Nobody expected them to. But they did, because they genuinely care about people beyond themselves.
And to me, that is the greatest quality a human being can have. To stand up for people you don’t know, to fight battles that aren’t your own, and to risk everything you have so that someone else might have a better life.
That’s the kind of people Ashu and Saurav are.

Very very true. High taxes on FPI’s, tax disputes and tax terrorism is driving away inward investments, hurting rupee, increasing costs and will impact growth and jobs. Time for our FM @nsitharaman to do away with CG on FPI, at least for 5 years. We are shooting oursekves in the foot due to bad policy here. Similar to high customs on gold, leading to hawala, smuggling

We need a fast action.

Monday morning questions: How does the Lawrence Bishnoi gang operate with such impunity, in India and abroad, when its BOSS is lodged in the high-security Sabarmati jail? Who is running the network, how is it being funded, and why has the state been unable to dismantle it? A gangster behind bars should not mean a gang beyond the law, no?

Saurav and Ashu are being taken to the SEM at Mandir Marg. They should have been released yesterday, but evidently an entire system was put to work to prevent their release.
Funnily enough, both are smiling even now - despite the government desperately trying to instill fear!
Replying to @priyankac19
Uff! Priyanka, stop demeaning Indian students by saying they drew their inspiration from Bangladesh or elsewhere. India has a long tradition of democratic protest and young people are better informed about it than you. Your comments come accross as gross and juvenile - just stop the nonsenss

If distorian Sanjeev Sanyal was even one-tenth as good as his acolytes scream in social media, poor Modi wouldn't be forced to push all economic goals to an imaginary and mythical 2047, when this entire team would be a faint, dark, nearly forgotten memory at best.

What's happening to Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das is a travesty. This is how India kills its youth's idealism and optimism, and turns young people into rebels. This is also why anyone who can, prefers to leave India rather than live under such a pathetic government. Those with privilege who make the choice of returning, and deliberately stay on to serve India must be commended and supported.

After Baba Siddique's assassination, now bullets fired at Tiger Shroff in Mumbai. That too in Juhu, right by Jamnabai Narsee school!
India's financial capital is now the crime capital. Maybe police deployed to shut down protests should be used to protect Mumbaikars instead.

ASTONISHING: CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das still in judicial custody for trespass and violation of prohibitory orders while waving the tricolour at Jantar Mantar (not an act of violence by any reckoning), and Hindu Raksha Dal members who were caught on camera beating protestors out on bail (an act of brazen goondaism). Yeh hai kanoon??😡

The disgraceful slander against @nehafolksinger by @ABPNews was exposed by independent fact checkers. This is precisely why some Noida anchors and reporters are clamouring for restrictions on independent media. They don’t want their lies exposed, their narratives challenged or their agendas scrutinised. What they really want is a free hand to peddle propaganda without accountability.

Bollywood calls itself one big family yet is so terrified of jailed Lawrence Bishnoi just as they were earlier of Dawood Ibrahim that they can’t say a word of condemnation or offer commiserations at the murderous attack on Tiger Shroff. They were equally mum when Baba Siddique was murdered. Showcases the reality of law & order in Mumbai

Your career took off due to Nepotism and your family connections which everyone knew even when we were colleagues at Deutsche Bank.
Your positions on GDP data manipulation or UPSC have widely been acknowledged around the world as a joke.
Your advise to the PM has been an absolute disaster and then only thing you are good at seems to be dancing to Bhajans.

Delhi Police has a weird habit.
First, they detain you and deny you access to lawyers the entire time. They don’t tell you or anyone where you are being taken to.
Then, at 3:30 in the morning, they suddenly show up with arrest papers and finally call your lawyer at 4 AM!
This has happened to me twice now. Ye 3:30 AM ko aisa kaunsa shubh muhurat hota hai, Delhi Police?

I am still laughing at the fact that Sanghi NRIs in London thought it is New Delhi and asked the police in UK to detain those protesting against Modi and got detained himself 😭
