ASTONISHING: CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das still in judicial custody for trespass and violation of prohibitory orders while waving the tricolour at Jantar Mantar (not an act of violence by any reckoning), and Hindu Raksha Dal members who were caught on camera beating protestors out on bail (an act of brazen goondaism). Yeh hai kanoon??😡

🚨 IMPORTANT
We have consulted Mr. Kapil Sibal. If Ashu and Saurav are not released by tomorrow, we will pursue legal action against all those who deliberately ensured that they continue to be in illegal custody especially when they have not committed nor charged with any offence.
The deliberate use of delaying tactics to keep them behind bars cannot go unchallenged. Those responsible will be held accountable.

Delhi Police has a weird habit.
First, they detain you and deny you access to lawyers the entire time. They don’t tell you or anyone where you are being taken to.
Then, at 3:30 in the morning, they suddenly show up with arrest papers and finally call your lawyer at 4 AM!
This has happened to me twice now. Ye 3:30 AM ko aisa kaunsa shubh muhurat hota hai, Delhi Police?

Businesses do not suffer because of peaceful protests. They suffer when the govt decides to shut down an entire city, suspend internet services and restrict the movement of its own citizens and turn the city into a war-zone.
Since its inception, the Cockroach Janta Party has maintained that we will always follow Gandhi’s path of peace and non-violence, and we have stood by that commitment. We have organised protests in Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Nagpur, and every single one of them has been peaceful. I was personally assaulted in Jaipur, but even then, I chose not to retaliate because responding to violence with violence goes against everything we believe in. We would rather exercise the rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, than resort to physical force. Our strength comes from our commitment to constitutional values, and no amount of provocation will make us abandon them.
Despite this, there are constant attempts to portray us as anarchists simply because we refuse to remain silent. But demanding answers from the govt is not anarchy, protesting against injustice on the streets is not anarchy, and questioning those who hold public office is certainly not anarchy. These are the most fundamental expressions of democracy. The very party that is in power today spent decades organising protests, taking to the streets and questioning the governments of the day when it was in opposition. Had the same restrictions, intimidation and police crackdowns been used against them, many of those who occupy positions of power today might never have reached where they are. It is deeply hypocritical to celebrate protests as a democratic right when you are in opposition and treat the same act as a threat to public order when you come to power.
We are not asking for privileges or special treatment. We are simply asking to exercise the rights that belong to every citizen of this Republic, irrespective of which party is in power. So let us fulfil our duty as citizens of this country by questioning those we elect, demanding accountability and speaking up whenever we witness injustice.
A govt that has been elected by the people is bound to listen to the people, not silence them. Democracy does not end once the votes have been counted.

If this turns out to be true, then we are possibly looking at a situation where the rot is far deeper than what meets the eye
In the name of Pakistan and Religion to win elections after elections, a lot seems to have been compromised
I just wonder, has the leadership lost control and can’t rein in the independent fiefdoms that have sprung up in every corner of the country ?
Is it beyond their control ?
Or is it a deliberate choice to be so ?
I don’t have an answer
What do you think 🙏
But, amidst all this India and Indians definitely need some ideas to heal 🙏🙏

During an economic forum organised by Bloomberg in New Delhi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described India as the “mother of democracy” as his government is accused of arresting thousands of peaceful protesters and restricting free speech.
At least 35 media workers covering anti-government protests were arrested in 48 hours this weekend, according to the US-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
Modi claimed that “open discussion happens” in his country, including on social media, despite multiple protests being banned in New Delhi and accusation of censorship on the Instagram pages of the Cockroach Janta Party.
On Wednesday, Human Rights Watch published a report denouncing the use of abusive methods to crack down on peaceful protesters and what it described as excessive police violence.
“The Modi government should stop throwing young protesters in jail and instead engage with them to address concerns over the right to vote and fairness of elections,” said Elaine Pearson, Asia director at the organisation.
