Today at the conference of Australian Science Communicators, a panel—How can scientists in the media benefit the public good?—was hosted by Michael Hopkin of @ConversationAU. Panelists discussed the 'atomised' nature of the media landscape and a movement towards 'solutions journalism'. Our observatory in WA has been gifted a Wajarri name! 📡 Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, CSIRO's Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory. This dual name means 'sharing sky and stars' and represents the Wajarri Yamaji's long connection to Country as the region's first astronomers. ⭐️

A new Wajarri name for CSIRO's WA observatory

Signing of a new Indigenous Land Use Agreement for the observatory is being celebrated by the Wajarri Yamaji on Country today, together with guests from CSIRO and the Australian and WA Governments.
