BBC local radio cutbacks ‘harming older listeners’ @Telegraph #BBCLocalRadio telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

I’m worried the latest BBC cuts will lead to anger directed at them. Having lived in USA, I can only express how brilliant BBC is - no ads, great quality of some programmes, the fab radio service & sport coverage. We’re lucky to have it. I hate the cuts but cherish what we have

BBC News is a good example of big cuts still to come.
Today, it has told staff of 100 more job losses, saving £5.5m.
That's on top of previous cuts of £25m and £1.8m.
But it has to get to a total of £51m in cuts - so still plenty to come next year.
NEW: BBC confirms BBC Three, BBC Scotland, Radio 4 Extra channels to go, but there is an even more worrying development.
After all the cuts so far, the BBC is not even HALF WAY to its £500m savings target.
Some big calls to come...

One reason I’d had enough after 19 years was the annual cuts were always sold as - ‘if we make these difficult decisions the BBC can survive for the long term’ I knew they’d be back each year. I understood why I just didn’t want to be there when they said “sorry now it’s you too”

.... and you have to wonder what is the point
of the BBC Board ?
Rather than defending the values of Public
Service Broadcasting, they appear to be
complicit in trashing them.

Someone save the BBC from the BBC. An institution that has survived wars, relentless attacks, seems determined to dismantle itself from within. Dreadful leadership, lack of vision, questionable impartiality, failure to defend the institution they’re entrusted to protect

Imagine a life where we just listened to FACTS

You would be happy wouldn’t you?
So what’s making you not happy?
The right wing trolls on here?
GB News?
The Daily Mail?
Maybe it’s time some people decided if they’d prefer to listen to right wing propaganda or maybe just listen to facts?

The trouble is, the top Management fail to realise how important it is and it should remain LOCAL, with LOCAL presenters. I notice none at the top have lost their jobs! Scandalous!
Replying to @RichParkerLab
Can you please tell him how much Local Radio is valued and how important it is to communities across England and the Channel Islands!

Okay, I'm breaking character here. This is not a satire post. My 2-year-old son is in a wheelchair that we can't fit into our car. We are not eligible to apply for a wheelchair accessible vehicle until he is three--and even then we would have to pay about £13,000 towards it (which we don't have).
The idea that disabled people get given free cars willy-nilly is bullshit. My son has to attend regular appointments at various locations. He has a team of specialists dedicated to helping him with an extremely rare neurological condition that means he needs around the clock supervision.
He can't even hold his own head up so a regular car seat is out of the question. He was using a baby seat, but he's outgrown that. It's really tough for us to get around because misinformation from pricks like Nigel influences public opinion. Does this seem right?

Understandably this is already grabbing headlines and a lot of attention, but I really hope it doesn't overshadow the other cuts and changes which are planned. If there's a battle to be fought it should be about all output that stands to be lost/affected theguardian.com/tv-and-radio…

1/ I want to the Archers still recorded in Birmingham. Equally, I want good public service broadcasting retained on network radio and local radio and regional TV to have a future. Inevitably, there'll be cuts made somewhere. Not everything's going to survive as we'd like..and..
