“Frank Sinatra” by Cake is genius for one very simple reason: it treats cool like a cheap suit hanging off a broken neon sign.

The trumpet drifts in like a noir memory, John McCrea deadpans his way through the wreckage, and suddenly Sinatra isn’t a man anymore but a whole American hallucination: class, swagger, loneliness, smoke.
Every mixtape needs an opening track that feels like the road unfolding in front of you.
“Scar Tissue” has that sunlit guitar tone that feels like driving along a coastal highway with the windows down.
It’s reflective.
A little weathered.
But hopeful.
