ALT UNClassroom 5: Discussing the Pitfalls of IPCC 6th Assessment Report. October 19th, 2021, 6:00 PM EDT, on Zoom, Zoom Meeting ID: 973 7149 7188. IPCC logo in the middle of the flyer has a medium blue background with the letters "IPCC" written on the background. This report talks about the usual state that climate change is getting worse but puts the onus on "humanity" without any context to that framing, which is harmful to marginalized, oppressed groups.
ALT Screenshot and scan QR code to get UNClassroom 5's reading list. There is a QR code in the middle of the graphic.
ALT Essential questions that will be discussed: What is "humanity" according to the IPCC? Why is the framing of "humanity" harmful? What are the actual entities, concepts, and people responsible for climate change? Outside of the "humanity" framing, what is something else that IPCC failed at doing? If you were in the position to write a report about climate change, what are the things that must be included in that report?
