A very sad anniversary of a massive intelligence failure that did not prevent 29 innocent people and two unborn twins being killed by an evil group. My role in 1998 meant I was part of that failure to protect innocents; it haunts me to this day. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-i…

Why would anyone believe any assessment from one of the people who was 'in the room' when Blair, Brown, and Campbell decided to launch an illegal and ill conceived war on Iraq based on a dodgy dossier and made up intelligence? order-order.com/2026/09/18/f…

This has been going on for over 4 years. Because MI5 refused to accept any responsibility with officers hiding behind the myth of what they do. Contempt proceedings required, so our int and security services understand they are accountable to the public. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3j4…

Seems our head of sate will engage with journos about irrelevant tittle tattle yet refuses to answer important questions eg interventions in British legislation, use of the 'Kings Consent', and their approach to sustainability and being frequent flyers? theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

Nothing new here. Politicians, civil servants, local gov, MI5, GCHQ, MI6, military, NHS, slebs, etc been doing this for years. All have friendly journos and outlets they use to try and nix articles they think will be detrimental. theguardian.com/media/2026/s…

Why does our PM take advice from Powell, the person who was one of the key people taking us to the ill-conceived and probably illegal war in Iraq and bombing countries causing untold 'collateral damage' - the impact we are living with today? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crr4…

What threat? The threats we face in Britain will not be defended by more arms to invade and bomb other countries, we will be better served by spending our money on the economy, cyber security, anti drone measures, air defence, intelligence, and giving people hope.
PM commits to upgrading our defences by 2035. The threat will not politely wait. 👇My article in @Independent

I agree; have always thought it disrespectful. It is time we no longer displayed human remains for us public to gawp at, unless before their death they have given specific permission. If this means I am a sensitive woke then happy to be labelled such. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd68…

With one hand our government wants to call me and fellow vets up to defend our country; with the other hand our government wants to endlessly persecute veterans of wars they sent us to fight. I am confused! telegraph.co.uk/gift/34d8ef9…

Shouldn't it be a non-negotiable clause in the contract that the vehicles must be wholly built in Britain? And not just keeping our money in our communities, but also clauses to train workers and offer apprenticeships? telegraph.co.uk/business/202…

Really? So it is lack of police funding and not poor leadership that resulted in schools and shops being forced to close for the funeral of a convicted criminal who regularly shared videos of himself recklessly driving stolen cars? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqlw…

I think it should be a basic rule that no public servant whether national gov, local gov, military, NHS, judiciary, quango etc earns more than the Prime Minister. burnleyexpress.net/news/poli…

Does Charles know about this? Is there 'plausible deniability'? Charles is known as very much a micro manager .....
Years after we revealed Charles accepted suitcases stuffed with millions in physical cash and awarded an honour to a Saudi donor who paid for the privilege, the King’s operation is still opaque and opposed to the most gentle scrutiny. The Metropolitan Police ended up investigating his flagship charity such was the scale of misconduct and its chair, its chief executive and trustees quit. Yet the foundation — which receives public funds and champions Charles’s personal philosophy of “harmony” — still struggles with familiar issues: its new chairman and new CEO both left recently. Staff complain of being underworked and overpaid. At one point, billionaire donors were going to be given access to HRH’s taxpayer-funded trip to the Vatican and accompany him to meet the Pope. (I reported on the plan, which was withdrawn.) The monarch officially has no role in his foundation. But he remains involved down to the minutiae and the palace accepted last year he’d grown frustrated at one gardener, of whom he thundered: “Don’t put me in front of that man again!” This was the context in which sources contacted us recently to reveal that the charity had been making tens of thousands of undisclosed “consultancy” payments to the King’s sister in law — Queen Camilla’s sister. The charity refused to comment for a week but after we approached the Palace, it abruptly acknowledged Annabel Elliot is a consultant providing advice on “branding” and “retail”. This, they claimed, complied with their procurement processes. What that process amounted to they would not say. Sources saw it differently, saying it was difficult to discern the outcome of the work but that it appeared to include accompanying the King on official visits involving the charity and keeping him abreast of internal developments. Claim or counter claim aside, there is no reference to the arrangement publicly or in the “related party transactions” section of accounts — where one would expect to see any payments that could constitute a conflict of interest. The “cash-for-honours”, “cash-for-access”, “cash-in-bags” and “cash-in-suitcases” stories we broke have all been met with cold fury by the palace — but inevitably came from people within or close to it who did not think it helped the monarchy for its institutions to operate without good governance or basic accountability. Erm, no. Usual guff from Hamish. Zero chance of an attack. The Russian military has displayed zero capability, utterly failing in Ukraine. US intelligence says Putin may attack Nato soon. Here’s why I believe it telegraph.co.uk/gift/32469ac…

I became a republican in the early 90s whilst a serving soldier. Vetting Officers always thought I was joking when my response the question 'do you support the queen' was 'no, I am a republican'. Still kept my EPV/DV though! #endthemonarchy
