Congratulations to our #radres Dr Ali Jafri on being selected as the Resident Doctors of Saskatchewan “Resident of the Month” for September, 2026. A well-deserved award for an excellent resident! #radiology #meded
Dr Flegg contributed to the CAR Image Guided #Breast procedure Guidelines. #Mammographic, #ultrasound, & MRI-guided techniques each have a role, depending on lesion visibility. Guidelines emphasize patient considerations, appropriate technique, expertise, concordance & follow-up.
Dr Flegg contributed to the CAR #BreastMRI Guidelines. #MRI is extremely sensitive for #BreastCancer detection - but it’s not a replacement for mammography in general screening. Roles incl high-risk screening, staging & problem-solving. Contrast & specialized expertise required.
Dr Flegg contributed to the CAR #BreastImaging Guidelines on #breastultrasound. Guidance includes diagnostic & supplemental screening US (handheld & automated techniques). #Ultrasound complements #mammography—but isn’t a replacement for mammography or MRI in high-risk screening.
Dr Flegg contributed to the CAR #BreastImaging Guidelines on contrast enhanced #mammography (CEM). CEM has a role in diagnostic problem-solving & pre-op staging, especially when #MRI is unavailable or contraindicated; but isn’t a replacement for MRI.
UofS Rad Dr Flegg was part of the CAR practice guidelines on #Mammography. Updated guidance covers screening vs diagnostic imaging, reporting & equipment standards, and DBT - which can increase #breastcancer detection while reducing screening recalls. #BreastImaging #radiology
Dr Flegg lead author on updated CAR/BRC recommendations for post-vaccine axillary adenopathy: Key points: Don’t delay #breast imaging; document vaccine timing/site; and isolated ipsilateral adenopathy within 3–6 months with no suspicious breast findings = BI-RADS 2. #Radiology
Drs Sacoransky & Adams present at an AJR Live webinar on LLM accuracy for CT/MRI protocoling from requisitions. AI achieved 85% pooled accuracy across 23 studies/1.2M requisitions, but struggled with ambiguous/complex requests, rare protocols & evolving practice. #AI #Radiology
Drs S Adams & N Mistry were part of a Harvard-led project published in NEJM AI introducing ReXGroundingCT: linking radiology language to precise 3D masks in a curated chest CT dataset. A potential resource for developing free-text medical segmentation models. #radiology #AI #CT
What’s the status of #SocialMedia for Canadian radiology residency programs? New CARJ paper by Drs A Kandel & D Leswick: 15/16 programs have social media (but 40% inactive), #Instagram had way higher engagement & resident led accounts had greater engagement. #meded #FoamRad
Our #radres Dr Sacoransky & Dr Adams will be presenting an AJR Live webinar on the performance of various #AI models for #CT and #MRI protocolling. Tuesday Aug 11, 2026. Sign up at arrs.org/ajrlive #radiology
Hot off the press - editorial in the CARJ by our #radres Neel Mistry & co-author Rui Ning Gong on the updated transition to radiology residency document providing clear guidance to residents just starting their #radiology training. #meded
Dr Neel Mistry was an author on the new “Transition to Residency Peer to Peer Guide” by the Canadian Assoc of Radiology. A well written clear document incl intro to reports, call cases, taking cases in rounds, protocolling studies and radiation risk! #meded #FOAMrad #radiology
Being on time is important. At RD, we have "presentation efficiency" prizes for presenting in under 5 minutes. Key take-aways - all #medstudent presenters were in the “efficiency zone”. 62% of #radres presenters were in the zone. Always something to work on. #radiology #research
Just like in radiology, some findings are hidden. Apologies to those in the back row for the “limited visualization”. Our group photo of residents, researchers, and some UMIC staff at our year end party. A good group of people to work with. #radiology #radresident #saskatchewan
What an absolutely amazing group of people. Here are our #radiology residents at our year end party! #radiologylife #redres @USaskHealthSc @USaskMed @usask
Congratulations to Ethan Sacoransky for winning the 'Stuart Houston Award for Medical Imaging Research at the UofS’ (AKA Best Resident Research Project" at our #research day. Wonderful meta analysis on radiologist #lung nodule detection on #CT lung with and without #AI #radiology
Congratulations to Wara Lounsbury on winning the best PQI project award at this year's #research day. Good work to optimize scanning for bone tumor patients in our health region. #radiology #bonetumor #MRI
Congratulations to Adam Hussain for winning the best medical student project award at this year's research day. A great project on the prevelance and characteristics of active #spondyloarthropathy in patients without SI joint disease. #radiology #MRI
