The DNA repair field has lost a true scientific giant today, Sam Wilson, aka Mr. Base Excision Repair. He was my scientific hero, postdoc mentor, and father figure. Sam was a mentor too many. We strive to carry on his scientific legacy and mentorship. We all miss you, Sam.💔😢
