And we have now hit the ONE MILLION FRUIT COLLECTED!! 💪🎉🌱
The 2024 Seeds for Snapper program is shaping up to be a big one thanks to all our incredible @ozfishunlimited volunteers both in the water and on the shore

Seeds for Snapper 2024, Days 7&8
WE'VE CRACKED HALF A MILLION FRUIT COLLECTED 💪
Today we also saw the first of our seeds get dispersed - good luck to all 63 000 of them! 🌱
With Day 5 of the 2024 Seeds for Snapper season now complete we have passed the 300 000 fruit mark! 💪🌱

New Paper in MEPS!
Photosynthesis & respiration in sheath-covered eelgrass seeds increase with temperature, but with stronger response in respiration, which can have negative impact on synthesis rates of storage products and thereby germination success.

We have a new paper out!
'If we look after Country, then Country will look after you'
Our new paper describes a #partnership between western scientists and Aboriginal Traditional Custodians to improve #seagrassrestoration outcomes in #Gathaagudu (Shark Bay)

My first ISBW and WSC and what an incredible venue! This is also the largest seagrass conference ever with almost 500 scientists from 48 countries gathering in Napoli - such an honour and privilege to be part of this 🌱

"We lost over 1,300 square kilometres of seagrasses in the system that were capping all that organic carbon in the sediment, so now when storms come they disturb the sediment [and] release all of that buried carbon"

Incredible opportunity to learn about mircosensing in seagrass, but the 25micron sensors definitely tests the nerves!
Back in Australia, training and working with @CoralEMU @Rachel_Austin_ (Gary Kendrick’s lab) at UWA, Perth. Microsensors are now positioned inside the #seagrass leaf, measuring sulfide and oxygen over time. Going to be very interesting to see the final results. @seas_green

Hi everyone, @jane_edgeloe here for the July #Twittertakeover #PhDinthelife series! I am a 3rd year #PhDcandidate with @BiolSci_UWA and @uwaoceans, studying #seaweed #genetics 🧬, and I will be taking over the @BiolSci_UWA Twitter today! Stay tuned for what I’ve been up to 🤿🎓🌊
An absolutely incredible week of marine science at #AMSA2023 on the Gold Coast.
It was a proud moment to be able to share the #SeedsforSnapper success story with the AMSA community, and to receive such positive feedback 🌱
Back in 2020 we started a huge mesocosm experiment just as covid kicked off. It was one crazy rollercoaster but it's so great to see the (super interesting) results coming out - have a read! ⏬ 🌱

New PhD paper out in @NewPhyt!🎉
We unraveled different response mechanisms in leaf #metabolism of temperate & tropical #seagrasses🌱when exposed to extreme climatic events under #oceanwarming with indication of early warning potential.⏰

Organising and completing a hectare of seagrass restoration in remote Shark Bay was no easy feat but I'm stoked with the results so far!!
Researchers from UWA have teamed up with indigenous Malgana Rangers and Malgana divers from Tidal Moon to embark on a ground-breaking seagrass restoration project in Shark Bay.
Have a watch to learn more!
