Last field of wheat is finally off! Storms laid it over and the soybeans kept right on growing, but the crew got it done today.
Soybeans with a little trim off the top, but they’ll be just fine. Big jump on the double crop here. – at Topeka, KS

Creating an activity in AGRON 120 where college students interview a farmer about crops they grow and why.
Many students have 0 ag contacts - would anyone here be interested in talking with them? They’d choose who to contact and reach out in early Nov.
I’d need your name, email and/or phone number, and state/county. All regions welcome (the more, the better)!
The questions I will give them to ask you will be short, simple, and non-personal. I just want them to interact with a farmer to get a sense of “reality”.
THANKS!
I understand the importance of a 0-nitrogen treatment, but it sure does seem like cruel and unusual punishment 🌽 – at Manhattan, KS
To the kind folks who honked at the crazy lady (me) on the side of the road in Hardy, Arkansas -
Yes, I know this is kudzu.
Yes, I know it’s weird I’m taking a bunch of pictures.
I’m a plant science professor. All is well.
Our favorite little friends are hard at work 🦠
Nodule sampling day in our wheat-soybean relay N management trial here in Manhattan.
Does wheat N rate impact soybean fixation? What if the N is streamed only on the wheat? Can we reduce per-acre N inputs with comparable yields? – at Manhattan, KS
Hail damage differences in standard and relay soybeans, and the edge effect of wheat.
Just enough to knock leaves off unsheltered soybeans, thankfully not too much damage to wheat. – at Manhattan, KS
