📰NEW CRAE PAPER📰:@JanaBrinkert & @annaremington examined if the amount of information that we can pay attention to at any one time, is linked to being sensitive to sensory information (e.g lights, sounds, smells), which many #autistic people experience. bit.ly/2Btr4Ee

Fairly stark results here from @asd_uk2011 Some effects of age and gender on QoL in autistic people - females have better social QoL, younger autistic people better than older. But overall? Way below population averages :( #INSAR2018
High reappraisal and low suppression was associated with the most positive well-being outcomes in autistic people : framing what you can in a positive light, and learning to ignore what you can't change. Probably true for all of us! #INSAR2018

My last three referrals to CAMHS have been declined because ‘this is related to his/her autism.’ Deeply concerned that a diagnosis should negate a child’s right to positive mental wellbeing and support.

"Should we continue to refer to #autism as a ‘disease’ or ‘disorder’, or is the framework of ‘#neurodiversity’ a more humane and accurate lens through which to view people with autism?" Read this editorial perspective from @sbaroncohen. buff.ly/2tr01Vy @WileyPsychology
