From the travel journal of American pastor David Millard, who visited Palestine in 1841-1842:
"Should the time ever take place when the Jews shall again possess the land of their fathers, a very important overturn must first take place with the nations and tribes that surround it. The land is at present inhabited by native Arabs, who till the soil and mainly people the towns and villages. The question arises, how are these inhabitants to be dispossessed of the land? Is a purchase contemplated? Who, or what power is to enforce such a purchase, and where would the present inhabitants emigrate to? Or is it contemplated that they are to be driven out by the sword? This, I am convinced is the only means by which the land can be cleared of its present population."

Never has the concept of Liberal Zionism looked more absurd and contradictory. It almost makes you feel sorry for people who simply can't accept the evidence before their eyes that the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians was inevitable from the very beginning of Zionism. As Theodor Herzl wrote in his diary on June 2nd 1895: “We must expropriate gently the private property on the estates assigned to us. We shall try to spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it employment in our own country. The property owners will come over to our side. Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly.”

I may be reading too much into this statement, and I certainly hope I am wrong. But it is hard not to interpret it as suggesting that Netanyahu promised Trump another joint military operation against Iran in exchange for his political support.
In other words, Netanyahu may have effectively committed Israel to another war with Iran to secure his political future, regardless of the potential consequences.
If that is indeed the case, it would be an extraordinary and troubling revelation. Israel cannot afford another war with Iran driven by political calculations rather than a genuine national security necessity.

🚨🚨🚨Trump endorses Netanyahu ahead of the elections in a post on Truth Social:
To the Great People of Israel:
Bibi Netanyahu has been a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its 51 year old chant, “Death to Israel, Death to America! We will destroy the Little Satan and the Big Satan.” What Country can survive when things such as this are allowed to be said, because eventually, they always end up being true? It would have been only a question of time until Iran would have put that ominous phrase into effect, but they have been systematically destroyed, both Militarily and Financially, and unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job. If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so. Bibi Netanyahu has been Strong, Brave, and Brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition, including that coming from even Israel, itself. Despite all of that, he has endured and, in fact, he has thrived! I have watched Bibi under the most trying of times. Normal men or women in such situations would have wilted under the pressure — But Bibi did not wilt, he actually got stronger, and maintains that same Strength today. This is the kind of Partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel, a Country for which it has done so much. Please let this Letter serve to represent my Complete and Total Endorsement of Bibi Netanyahu in his upcoming Race for Re-Election as Prime Minister of Israel. BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

While writing this piece and speaking with the Palestinians in it, I struggled, as I think we collectively, as humanity, do, to grasp the gravity of destruction.
What it means for an entire city to be destroyed, and for people to lose their homes and the lives they built there.

With no ambulance and no car to carry him, his brother lifted him onto his shoulders and walked. Tamer Shadi Subh, a schoolboy, was shot dead by the Israeli occupation army on Sunday in the Tal Al-Dhahab area of Beit Lahia, in northern Gaza. Three years of genocide have left families without even a way to bring their dead to the hospital.
Gaza’s Ministry of Education mourned Tamer as the third schoolchild killed by the Israeli occupation in less than 24 hours, after Mohammed Riyad Abu Hammad and little Misk Hazem Al-Dalu, who was shot when Israeli forces opened fire on displaced families’ tents in Al-Maghazi camp. The ministry warned that the road to school in Gaza has become a road to death, and called on the UN and UNICEF to act to protect Gaza’s students. Five Palestinians were killed across Gaza on Sunday, two of them children, and the death toll since the ceasefire has now passed 1,511.

I strongly believe that it's about more than that.
The past weeks of US business news have been dominated by (quite belated) concerns about sustainability of AI capex.
GCC are a VERY important marginal investor in the hyperscalers, frontier LLM firms and entities like SoftBank.
NEW: The recently announced Persian Gulf Data Authority is a move by Iran to achieve two key objectives:
1) Flex their regional hegemony and show the world how Iran sees itself on the global stage for the conclusion of this war
2) Expand the Iranian justification for carrying out strikes against private companies interests in the Gulf region in the event the war resumes
Neither of these objectives indicate that Iran views themselves as the “weak” side in this war.
This threat is fascinating for a number of reasons.
The AI capex boom is truly a blackhole for credit, growing bigger and bigger, with no real solid evidence of a corresponding payoff coming any time soon. The GCC are lynchpin investors in the global tech ecosystem.

The fact that Trump is endorsing Netanyahu, the man who helped irreversibly destroy Trump’s own legacy, should speak volumes about who is calling the shots in Washington.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.
Just got to get to the other side!
