Well, the dreaded day is here.
Discord is now surveilling users and automatically sorting every account into one of three buckets: adult, teen, or “unconfirmed.”
And if it gets your age wrong you may have to prove you’re an adult with an ID + selfie, credit card, or another age check.
Discord says 90%+ of users won’t have to verify. Sounds somewhat reassuring, until you remember it has 200M+ monthly users.
That still leaves potentially 20M+ people being asked to show their ID just to use Discord.

It is impossible for small websites to host communities with age verification. They would be forced to use APIs from big tech companies which costs money for EVERY account that gets age verified, which is not finacially stable.
