Another critically endangered North Atlantic right whale has been found suffering from a severe entanglement in what appears to be fishing gear. This male, known oddly as Dropcloth, was found in Canada's Gulf of St. Lawrence, according to Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

North Atlantic right whale #1950, one of this year's mothers, has been found dead. Read the update from @NOAAFisheries.
On March 30, we were notified of a dead North Atlantic right whale floating approximately 50 miles offshore of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia. The whale has been identified as adult female #1950—she gave birth to her 6th calf this winter: bit.ly/4cychoO
