Since selecting Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker in the first round in 2015, the Astros' first-round picks since 2016 have produced a combined -1.1 bWAR.
Whoever is hired as the new GM will need to hit on some early selections and hope Dana's last draft or two left some gifts.

FINAL: Brewers 7, Dodgers 4
Milwaukee takes a 2-0 lead in the NLCS. The Brewers are everything we thought they were. It’s a menacing, delightful brand of baseball.
The Dodgers are in rough shape. They haven’t hit. Didn't win a Yamamoto start. Much to fix, little time to fix it.

I really miss being a fan of a really good baseball team. Those years from 2017-2022 were my best times as a sports fan. Watching nearly every game, sweating out the postseason, the highs of a playoff win & the lows of a playoff loss. It was simply the best time as a sports fan.

I feel bad for Yordan man. I wish he could have done better in these last two games but it’s a very big “help me help you” situation with him. He’s the only one that’s been having to carry the team for a majority of the season. I can’t imagine where we’d be without his 2026 campaign.
If nobody else does anything, he’s left stranded to deal with the adversity on his own. He’s superhuman but not THAT superhuman. He needs help and this current roster ain’t it.
He THRIVED when he was surrounded by a competitive roster from 2019-2023.

An aging, expensive roster just went 81-83 and looked overwhelmed against good teams the last couple of weeks. Whoever takes over baseball operations will have their work cut out for them

Hunter Brown go be an ace tomorrow.
My only major red flag a hour after a game 1 loss is this, if you carry 12 pitchers and Imai or Lambert throw zero innings we wasted 2 spots and tied both hands behind our back.

Hunter Brown did not look thrilled to see Joe Espada pop out of the dugout and remove him from this game. Though, Brown should've never been in this position if Houston's infield turns a tailor-made double play ball.

Astros and Rangers remained tied at 79-80 with three games left and Houston owning the tiebreaker.
What a weekend this should be.

Astros updates:
- Matthews to IL with left knee inflammation. He’s sore but no structural damage.
- Pena (wrist/forearm) is still “pretty sore.”
- Varsho (wrist) is slowly progressing.
- Javier had a Grade 2 groin strain so he’s out a while.
