UTSA at Texas State preview and best bet: Texas State –1.5 O/U 66.5 A massive G6 matchup will take place in San Marcos with Texas state hosting rival UTSA. Texas State won a thriller at UTSA last year 43-36, and this game has all the makings to be just as exciting. Week 1 was rough for the bobs, losing 59-7 to Texas, but the box score is a little more encouraging as they were only outgained 516-349. I don't draw too many takeaways from that game so will defer to my preseason expectations for the Bobcats which includes the best QB in the g6, two 1,000-yard receivers, and an improved defense. There isn't much you can take away from UTSAs week 1 performance either as they overmatched UTRGV. If you want to nitpick, they surrendered 422 yards of total offense which is not the most encouraging stat for a defense with questions. UTSA has one of the best QBs in the G6 in Owen McCown, a great OL, and a dynamic group of skill players led by RB Will Henderson. Like Texas state, the questions for UTSA are on the defensive side of the ball. I like the transfer additions and DC change for Texas state better than what UTSA did defensively, and the bobs also have the better QB. Home field advantage in this game will be critical as UTSA is 2-10 in their last 12 road games. Best bet: Texas State ML –110 to win 1 unit.
