I am extremely proud to announce Sen. Kesha Ram Hinsdale's endorsement. Kesha is a fierce advocate who delivers positive results for her constituents in Chittenden Cty. Her leadership on reducing racial disparities in VT's criminal justice system is unparalled. #vtpoli #vtprimary

Let’s be 100% clear. If Republicans win control of the House, Senate and White House two years from now, they will pass a national abortion ban. And no matter where you live, no matter how pro-choice your state is, women and doctors will be locked up for practicing health care.

In Vermont, all families are now compelled to support religious education, even in schools that would never let them enroll.
Replying to @RHolcombeVT
4/ In VT, my @vted-ucation property taxes are already increasing in order to fund religious schools that cultivate religious faith in other school districts- including in a school that stigmatizes LGTBQ people I love by equating them to people who practice incest & bestiality.

This has direct implications here in #VT. We are saddened, but not surprised, in this radical decision to undermine public schools. We pledge to find ways to keep our public dollars away from schools that discriminate. #vtpoli

The Supreme Court STRIKES DOWN a Maine education program that provides tuition assistance for students to attend some private schools but excludes schools that provide religious instruction. SCOTUS says the exclusion of religious schools is unconstitutional.

Still wrapping my head around @GovPhilScott vetoing a bill that eliminated racist disparities in crack/powder cocaine penalties & sought input from public health experts on drug possession amounts. I guess he prefers keeping the racist laws and rejecting public health approaches? – at Burlington, VT

URGENT! Please call @GovPhilScott at 802-828-3333 and ask him to sign S.287! Without this critical legislation enacted, low income and rural districts as well as small schools and English language learners will continue to be underfunded. #vtpoli #vted #equity #FixTheFormula

The backlog of cases is daunting. What may be perceived (or reported) as non prosecution of cases is often actually cases that are being charged but not set by the court. Statewide we have thousands of misd’s and felonies filed that are just sitting… facts matter. – at Williston, VT
Vermont courts suspended all non-emergency proceedings during the pandemic. Statewide, it is estimated that just over 1,000 felony cases and nearly 2,200 misdemeanors have been pending for more than two years.
