Bravo ! Quick action and coordination between the Assam Forest Department and Railways helped save precious elephant lives from a potential collision with a Rajdhani Express on the railway tracks in Nagaon today. Forest staff alerted the Railways, and the loco-pilot, working with the Railway Control Room, halted the Rajdhani Express, allowing the large herd to cross safely.

This moment of receiving the award is unlike any other award ceremony for me. The award was presented to me by Professor T. J. Joseph, whose right hand was chopped off by Islamist extremists in 2010. The severed hand was later surgically reattached. Even after that brutal attack, he refused to bow down and continued to stand for freedom of thought.And it was with that very injured and reattached hand that he presented me with the Lifetime Achievement Award.Whenever I look at this photograph now, it feels like much more than a picture of an award ceremony. It is a photograph of two people who have both been targeted by religious extremism, standing together. We have both suffered for defending freedom of thought, yet neither of us has abandoned our commitment to reason, humanism, and a more civilized world.
Standing together on that stage, we seemed to be saying the same thing:Extremists may cut off a person’s hand, force someone into exile, or try to silence them through fear—but they cannot defeat free thought.

These are the affectionate words of a fisherman as he calls out in Tamil while gently releasing a juvenile dugong, accidentally caught in his fishing net, back into the sea in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu.
What makes this beautiful moment truly unforgettable is the story behind it. Years of sustained awareness, engagement and trust-building with local fisherfolk, supported by incentive mechanisms introduced with the help of District Collectors, is encouraging communities to actively participate in conservation. From 2023 till date 21 Dugongs have been rescued. The restoration of approximately 3 acres of seagrass the lifeline of dugongs is further strengthening their habitat. This goes to show that the future of conservation will ultimately depend on how meaningfully local communities are involved in protecting wildlife and the ecosystems they share.

An initiative of the @Aiwcrteofficial in collaboration with @tnforestdept, this first-of-its-kind facility is providing advanced veterinary care directly into the field. Equipped with a haematology analyser, serum biochemistry analyser, microscope, centrifuge, refrigerators and a -20°C deep freezer, it enables rapid on-site diagnosis, disease surveillance, forensic investigations and instant diagnostic reports. By bringing sophisticated diagnostics to the doorstep of elephants and other wildlife, it enables faster treatment, reduces the stress of transportation and improves the chances of survival. India has so far won four big matches in the Asian Volleyball Cup in Ahmedabad, winning 12 sets, and dropping just one, to the Kazakh team.
Coincidentally, one was also the total number of articles in the English press in Ahmedabad about the AVC, that too after India's fourth straight win. After @sagofficialpage, FIVB, the IOA and the Steering Committee did such a sterling job putting this tournament together.
The stadium which allowed free seating was packed all four nights for all the India matches with thousands coming in to book their places hours before.
And after the game, they stayed en masse just to cheer the players and take selfies and autographs.
And one tiny report after day 4, for a team that has jumped into the world top 50 and just beat the defending champions in straight sets!
India's volleyball renaissance under coach Dragan, and the spirit and resilience of this team against all odds is a story that needs your support!
