HOW PLASTIC KILLS YOU: Look at this picture. It’s a plastic river in the capital of India - DELHI. Unbelievable, no? Half a trillion plastic bottles are produced each year and less than 10% are recycled. But before they start polluting landfills and the environment, they continuously leach harmful chemicals into our air, water, and the food and drinks that we consume. Hidden Hazards report found toxicity in: FOOD & BEVERAGES: Antimony, a cancer-causing chemical, was found in Diet Coke, Honest Tea, Dasani, and other Coca-Cola products at concentrations exceeding safe drinking water standard. WATER: Discharges from PET plastic production pollute groundwater with cancer-causing 1,4-dioxane, posing a health risk to drinking water supplies. AIR: Air emissions of ethylene oxide from crude chemical manufacturers that supply PET producers pollute to serious cancer risks. Force your local governments accountable. It’s your moral duty. #EarthConsciousness Photo courtesy: @tashitobgyal of Indian Express.
