Iain is correct. We still live in the shadow of the financial crisis and collapse in growth that followed. Median earnings today are at least £10k below where they would have been if continued on previous 50 year trend. From that has followed a lot of our political dysfunction.

What is wrong with you Britain🤷🏻♀️
Week after week hundreds of us go out and litter pick but we are simply mopping up whilst the tap is still on.
It’s time for a national strategy on litter and fly tipping.
For now another week another litter pick done

So sad to hear that the legend #JohnnieWalker has passed today. Only one playlist for tonight. Walk strong into your future Johnnie and we'll keep our heads high. 🙏 open.spotify.com/playlist/7C…
👇 Superb from @TorstenBell - demonstrating again that possibly the biggest challenge this Government faces is a biased right wing press.

I want to tell you a story about an old man, with a silly name and ridiculous hair, who was born in New York, became a media personality and then a right wing politician. 🧵

A sad day as Johnnie Walker hosts his final radio show.
Millions of us will miss his warmth, love of music, the stars who sounded like mates… and you were our incorrigible, irreverent mate, who had all the best rock’n’roll stories.
Sail on safely, Pirate JW. 📻

Really sad to hear that @PJTheEconomist is leaving the IFS - he (and the organisation) have been the authoritative and honest voice on all things finance and economics for a v long time. Good luck and thank you Paul and I'm sure the IFS will continue to thrive. 🙏
Our Director @PJTheEconomist has announced he is stepping down in Summer 2025, to move to @QueensCollegeOx.
The IFS would like to express its huge gratitude to Paul for his outstanding leadership as Director over the past 14 years.

Rather childishly (and unoriginal I know) but I couldn't help but rearrange the display at Waterstones Cardiff yesterday to express my continued loathing of this incompetent oath. With thanks to @RoryStewartUK , @jessphillips , @IanDunt , @TorstenBell @susie_dent and @mermhart
👇 A must listen for anyone interested in all things US election (oh, and the survival of American democracy and international relations / peace at the same time).
In our latest ep David talks US politics with @glgerstle.
Dead cats, October headwinds, comparisons with 2016 and a president missing in action. Plus, if the result is too close to call, can the American Republic survive the fallout?

👇 Excellent read.
David’s written a little something on his usual obsession ⬇️

Put simply: If you engage in violent protests, you will face the full force of the law.

Fascinating. I hope he's given the licence to act on these ideas.
