#EpigraphyTuesday – A Roman inscription on a tabula ansata recording the AD 173 restoration of a temple dedicated to Liber Pater and Libera in Bigeste, a defensive post on the Salona–Narona road. The temple, which had fallen into disrepair, was restored and given porticoes by Cohors I Belgarum under the supervision of Flavius Victor, a centurion of Legio I Adiutrix. The inscription is dated to the consulship of Severus and Pompeianus.

From the Spring of the Gazelles- the Oldest Faces in the Levant
In a darkened room of the Jordan Museum in Amman stand some of the strangest and most haunting figures ever made. They are about nine thousand years old. Pale, flat, almost life-sized, with long necks and stubby hands, they stare out at you with huge almond eyes ringed in black bitumen, as if they had just woken from a very long sleep. Which, in a sense, they have.

The Normans are one of the most fascinating success stories of the Middle Ages. The adventurers who turned into kings.
From Viking raiders into elite warriors employed by monarchs, including the Roman Emperor himself, for their deadly heavy cavalry, before transforming into master state-builders in South Italy, Outremer, and most importantly, England.
There, following William I’s triumph at Hastings in 1066, the Normans laid the foundation for a future global superpower.

Truth is that Morocco has a staggering illiteracy rate of 25%. Morocco is ranked 120th by the UN in terms of Human Development Index (HDI), with obscene inequalities and inadequate coverage of food and healthcare needs
Morocco should give up the propaganda of an advanced country

Yesterday’s archaeological exploration took me to Doclea (Duklja), near Podgorica in Montenegro. 🇲🇪 #ArchaeologyTravel
Doclea was an important Roman city in the province of Dalmatia, later becoming the capital of the province of Praevalitana. Its extensive ruins include the remains of a forum, temples, public baths and early Christian basilicas.
For me, the highlight of the visit was an inscription dedicated to Divus Traianus (Divo Traiano), the deified emperor Trajan, who was officially consecrated after his death in AD 117.

Ce peuple vient de très loin 💚
