Honored to address #UNGA81. In a world of multiplying crises, there is no substitute for the @UN. Romania firmly supports effective multilateralism.
Today, our democracies face a threat that deserves more attention: manipulation via social media. Democracy rests on the "one person, one voice, one vote" principle. When thousands of fake accounts act in coordination, individual voices are drowned out and freedom of speech is denied. When they target a person's ideas, they deter others from joining that cause, and freedom of association is denied. We must work together to defend the integrity of our democratic debate.
Global peace requires collective action. We urgently need a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, rooted in the UN Charter, as well as the implementation of the Peace Plan for Gaza.
Peace, democracy and multilateralism are also at the heart of @OIFrancophonie. Romania has therefore put forward a highly qualified candidate for the position of its Secretary-General. Bringing our diplomatic expertise to the organization, we aim to strengthen its role in mediation, democratic governance and sustainable development worldwide.

(Ordinul „Meritul Cultural” în grad de Comandor, Categoria D – „Arta spectacolului”)
Mulțumesc
