A Journey Through Maps to Protect ROPME’s Coral Reefs To mark World Maritime Day, the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME), in collaboration with Kuwait Oil Company, held an educational workshop for high school students. The students learned how maps and geographic information systems (GIS) are used to identify locations. They explored where coral reefs are found in ROPME Sea Area, their role in supporting marine biodiversity, the challenges they face, and ways to protect them. The workshop aimed to build students’ awareness of the marine environment, show how geographic technology supports marine monitoring and conservation, and encourage them to pursue studies in marine science and technology.

«رحلة عبر الخرائط لحماية الشعاب المرجانية في دولة الكويت» ضمن فعاليات الاحتفال بيوم الملاحة البحرية العالمي ، وفي إطار التعاون المثمر مع شركة نفط الكويت، نفذت المنظمة الإقليمية لحماية البيئة البحرية ورشة عمل تعليمية لطالبات ثانوية العصماء بنت الحارث. تعرّفت الطالبات خلال الورشة على آلية تحديد المواقع باستخدام الخرائط ونظم المعلومات الجغرافية، كما تعرّفن على مواقع الشعاب المرجانية في دولة الكويت وأهميتها في دعم التنوع البيولوجي والتوازن البيئي البحري، إضافة إلى أبرز التحديات التي تواجهها وطرق حمايتها والمحافظة عليها. وهدفت الورشة إلى تنمية الوعي البيئي لدى الطالبات، وتعريفهن بدور التقنيات الجغرافية في رصد البيئة البحرية وحماية مواردها، وتشجيعهن على دراسة التخصصات العلمية والتقنية المرتبطة بالمجال البحري.
