People claiming capitalism is inherently tied to white supremacy through slavery aren't looking at the actual numbers.
-At least 90% of slaves shipped to the New World were sold by Africans
-Fewer than 10% of Americans ever owned slaves
-The free North outperformed the slave South on every economic metric, and the cotton industry boomed AFTER slavery ended
-There are 50 million slaves worldwide today, including 9 million children
-The North African slave trade enslaved 1 to 1.25 million Europeans, forcing coastal villages to build tall walls just to fight off slave raids
Slavery didn't build the American economy, it held it back.
