When our ROLDA Hero found this beautiful girl in Palestine, she was dirty, hungry, injured and completely alone 😓
She was frightened and wouldn’t let anyone get close enough to help her, but leaving her behind simply wasn’t an option.
Our ROLDA Hero used a humane trap to safely rescue her and took her straight to the vet, where she is now being examined and receiving the care she needs.
We don’t know the full extent of her injuries yet, and we don’t know exactly what her recovery will look like.
What we do know is that her life has already changed 🥹
She is off the streets, she is safe, and there are now people fighting to give her the second chance she deserves. ❤️🩹
This is what your support of our ROLDA Heroes makes possible. It gives local rescuers the resources to step in when an animal desperately needs someone to notice them and choose to help.

This month, our Pet of the Month is a little rescue dog who has been making a very big impression: Rosa! 🐾
Rosa didn’t have the easiest start in life, but since finding her forever family in the UK, she has shown everyone just how incredible rescue dogs can be.
She is loving, intelligent, adventurous and apparently rather award-winning too! Earlier this year, Rosa entered her local dog fete and came home with Best Rescue Dog AND Best in Show. 🥹🏆
Her past has never stopped her from embracing everything her new life has to offer, and seeing her so loved, confident and thriving is exactly what we hope for every dog who comes into ROLDA’s care.
Rosa’s story is also a beautiful reminder of what can happen when someone chooses to give a rescue dog their chance. ❤️🩹
Could your rescue pet be our next Pet of the Month? rolda.org/petpal-gallery/ ✨
Entries are open worldwide, and the winner will be featured on our website and social media and receive their very own ROLDA bandana.

Mark’s previous owner left him at a veterinary clinic and never came back ❤️🩹
He was unfortunately abandoned by his family simply for being a dog and occasionally barking at birds, a behaviour that could have so easily been addressed.
Mark didn’t understand why the person he trusted disappeared, but despite being left behind, he remains a sweet and loyal boy who loves being close to people. He can be slightly hesitant when meeting someone new, but quickly settles and forms strong bonds once he feels comfortable.
At almost six years old, Mark is ready for the second chance he deserves. He enjoys his walks, gets along well with other dogs and could happily share his home with a canine companion.
Mark is around 23kg and is available for adoption in the UK and Sweden.

You can also sponsor Mark from anywhere in the world while he waits for someone to choose him.

We cannot remove the danger they face, but we can give them better protection when they go back.
Today is the final day of our matching campaign, and every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, helping us secure an armoured vehicle for these lifesaving missions.
There are still animals waiting. Our ROLDA Heroes are still willing to go. Help us make sure they can do it as safely as possible. ❤️🩹

When the war in Ukraine began, the lives of thousands of animals were turned upside down…
Some were left behind as their families were forced to flee, while others were found injured or trying to survive in communities devastated by war.
Thanks to our ROLDA Heroes, more than 27,000 animals have been rescued and given the chance to leave that fear behind.
The transformations you see are what those rescue missions make possible. Animals who have experienced so much can finally feel safe again and begin a completely different chapter of their lives.
There are still countless animals waiting for that same second chance.
Until 15 October, every donation towards our Ukraine response is being matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000. Your support can help our ROLDA Heroes continue reaching animals who desperately need them.

Our ROLDA Heroes see some incredibly heartbreaking cases 😔
In areas affected by conflict, emergency support for animals caught directly in the crisis is essential. At the same time, everyday rescue work cannot stop.
Animals are still abandoned. They still become sick and injured, and they still need emergency veterinary care. The people trying to help them are doing so while resources are already incredibly stretched.
That’s why your support of our ROLDA Heroes matters so much.
When this senior dog was found in Palestine, he had been lying on the street unable to walk for almost two weeks. He had suffered severe injuries, his wounds were badly infected, and by the time our ROLDA Hero was contacted, he desperately needed medical attention.
Your support meant we could help our ROLDA Hero step in and get him to a veterinary hospital, where he received the intensive treatment he needed to survive.
He still has a long recovery ahead of him, but he is eating and getting stronger. Most importantly, he now has the opportunity to experience a very different life from the one he was rescued from. ❤️🩹

On 31 August, one of our partner rescue vehicles was hit by a drone while travelling through the Kramatorsk region. Two rescuers were injured and hospitalised.
This is the reality our ROLDA Heroes face as they travel into dangerous areas near the frontline to rescue animals who have been left behind.
More than 27,000 animals have already been evacuated since the war began, and there are still so many waiting to be reached.
We want our rescuers to be able to continue these missions with the protection they desperately need. That is why we are raising funds towards a second-hand, fully armoured vehicle.
Until 15 October, every donation is being matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, which means your support can take us twice as far towards making that possible: rolda.org/matching-gift-chal…

Tyra hasn’t had the easiest start in life, and right now, the world can still feel like a very big place. ❤️🩹
Before coming to ROLDA, Tyra had very little experience of life outside the shelter or of spending time with people. New situations can feel overwhelming, but in calm surroundings where she feels safe, we can see she’s starting to take those important little steps forward.
Tyra is kind by nature and allows our team to gently handle and care for her. She gets along well with other dogs and could live with a confident canine companion who may help her feel more secure.
What she needs now is a patient, experienced family who understands shy dogs and will give her the time she needs to discover that the world can be a safe and happy place.
Tyra is around 10kg and is available for adoption in the UK and Sweden.

It’s our founder Dana’s birthday! 🎉🐾
For more than 20 years, Dana has dedicated her life to helping animals, and every year, her birthday wish comes back to the same thing: to help more animals who have nowhere else to turn ❤️
This year, that wish has taken on a very different meaning.
Dana has travelled to Ukraine multiple times and joined our ROLDA Heroes as they work near the frontline. She knows firsthand the risks they take to reach animals trapped in places where few others are willing to go.
More than 27,000 animals have already been evacuated, but so many are still waiting.
For Dana’s birthday this year, her wish is simple: that our ROLDA Heroes can keep reaching them without having to risk their lives in an unprotected vehicle. ❤️🩹
We are raising funds to help secure a second-hand, fully armoured vehicle so our ROLDA Heroes have greater protection when they travel into these dangerous areas.
Right now, every donation is also being matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, which means your birthday gift to Dana can take us twice as far towards making her wish a reality.
🎂 Celebrate with us by making a birthday donation in Dana’s honour: rolda.org/matching-gift-chal…

Our ROLDA Hero, Ruslan, was struck by a drone on a recent mission to evacuate animals near the frontline in Ukraine
Up to three times a week, he travels into high-risk areas where animals have been left behind, helping evacuate them to safety.
Since the war began, these missions have helped save more than 27,000 animals, but countless more still need help.
The danger facing the people trying to reach them is also growing.
Our ROLDA Heroes are determined to keep saving animals, but we need to help protect them while they do it.
We are raising funds towards a second-hand, fully armoured vehicle that will give our rescuers greater protection as they continue these lifesaving missions.
Until 15 October, every donation is being matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, so your gift can take us twice as far towards getting them the vehicle they urgently need.

If left untreated, 90% of dogs with parvovirus will die. It’s an awful disease and one we sadly see far too often.
A family living near our shelter had taken in five vulnerable puppies when they became seriously ill with parvovirus. They knew the puppies needed veterinary treatment, so they reached out to ROLDA.
Our team stepped in to help them access the care the puppies desperately needed. Sadly, despite everyone’s efforts, two of the puppies didn’t survive.
Three of them did, and they are now healthy, growing stronger and have an even happier chapter ahead of them.
The family who fought so hard to help them has decided to keep all three, giving them the safe and loving home they deserve 🥹
Parvo is preventable through vaccination, yet it remains incredibly dangerous for young and unvaccinated dogs. This is why access to preventative care and veterinary treatment matters so much, particularly in communities where vulnerable and stray animals need our help.
At ROLDA, we’ve always believed that rescue goes beyond removing a dog from a situation. We work tirelessly alongside other ROLDA Heroes to provide education, resources and medical care for local communities.
Your support allows ROLDA to be there when animals and the people trying to help them need somewhere to turn. ❤️

This little boy has been through so much 😔 When our team found him in Smardan, Romania, a severe infection had badly damaged both of his eyes.
We rushed him to our vet, but despite everything that was done to help him, the damage was already too advanced, and his eyesight could not be saved.
He is now completely blind, but he is adjusting incredibly well. He loves being held, purrs when he feels a gentle touch and is already making new friends while recovering at our cat sanctuary.
His life is going to look a little different, and our team will be there to help him learn how to navigate it safely. Most importantly, he now has people around him who will make sure he receives the care he needs and knows just how loved he is. ❤️🩹
Now all that’s missing is a name! What do you think we should call our brave little boy? Let us know in the comments 🥹

The floods in Nepal may have passed, but for animals across affected communities, the emergency is far from over 💔
Our ROLDA Heroes continue to work on the ground, reaching animals and communities affected by the devastating floods and landslides.
Animals still need veterinary treatment, food and ongoing care, while damaged roads, mud and debris continue to make reaching some areas incredibly difficult.
ROLDA remains committed to supporting rescuers on the ground as this work continues. By working directly with rescuers who know these communities, your donations can help provide the resources they need to keep reaching animals throughout the recovery.
There is still so much to be done, and your support can help make sure these animals are not forgotten once the immediate emergency has passed.
❤️ Please support our ROLDA Hero and help animals still recovering from this disaster: rolda.org/rolda-emergency-an…

Hillevi is still learning what it feels like to trust, but she has so much love waiting underneath. ❤️🩹
At just two years old, Hillevi can be cautious around new people and needs time to feel safe. Once she does, she happily comes over for cuddles and gentle affection, showing the sweet and loyal girl she really is.
Hillevi was rescued from the streets and is looking for someone with experience of shy dogs who understands that confidence can take time to build. With patience and reassurance, we know she will blossom in the right home!
She is around 17kg and is still learning to walk on a lead. Hillevi is available for adoption in the UK and Sweden, and our adoption team will support her new family every step of the way.

Could Teddy be your new walking buddy? 🐾
Teddy is a curious 5-year-old boy who would love a family to show him just how much of the world there is to explore.
He is friendly with the people he meets, although he can be a little reserved while he finds his confidence. Once he feels comfortable, his curious side comes out and he enjoys making new friends.
At around 21kg, Teddy is a medium-sized dog who walks on a lead and gets along well with other dogs. He could happily share his home with a confident canine companion, although he could also live as the only dog.
Teddy would suit an understanding family who will let him settle at his own pace and enjoy plenty of peaceful walks and adventures together. ❤️
🐶 Learn more about Teddy here: sponsoradog.rolda.org/dog/te…
📍 Adoptions are available in the UK and Sweden. If you’re not able to adopt, Teddy also welcomes sponsors from anywhere in the world.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our rescue dogs thrive! ❤️🥹
Margit was adopted in June, and we think it’s safe to say she has made herself right at home!
Her days now include playing with her toys, curling up for cosy naps, soaking up the summer sunshine and getting all the cuddles she could possibly ask for.
Best of all, her family absolutely adore her. 🐾
Updates like these mean so much to our team. We get to watch dogs arrive at our shelters without knowing what their futures will hold, then see them months later completely at home and surrounded by people who love them.
To Margit’s family, thank you for taking a chance on a rescue dog and giving this beautiful girl the life she was waiting for.
Here’s to many more summers at home, Margit. ❤️
Please head over to our website to meet some of the dogs waiting for their second chance like Margit 💖🐶

Since the war in Ukraine began, our ROLDA Heroes have helped evacuate more than 27,000 animals from areas near the frontline.
It is an incredible number, but there are still so many animals waiting for help 💔
As the war continues, more animals are being left behind in dangerous areas, often hungry, injured and with nobody left to care for them. Our ROLDA Heroes continue to make evacuation missions up to three times a week, reaching as many of these animals as they can and moving them somewhere safer.
Right now, your support can help them reach even more.
For a limited time only, every donation towards our Ukraine response is being matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000. That means every gift can have twice the impact for animals who still desperately need our help.

This senior dog was found on the streets of Bethlehem unable to walk, with devastating injuries across his head, face and body. ❤️🩹
The person who found him stayed by his side and reached out for help. Our ROLDA Hero in Palestine arranged transport and rushed him to a veterinary hospital in Nablus, where the extent of his condition became clear.
His wounds were severely infected and infested with maggots, causing extensive damage to his ear, face and one eye. He was also suffering from septicaemia, dehydration, a blood parasite and other serious infections.
Veterinarians spent hours cleaning and treating his wounds before he was admitted for intensive care. He remains in hospital, but his condition has improved and he has started eating again. 🐾
Through our ROLDA Heroes programme, we help fund lifesaving veterinary care for animals like this senior boy in communities far beyond our own shelters.
We can only provide this support because of our donors. Thank you for helping us stand behind local ROLDA Heroes and give animals in desperate situations the care they need.
