The RLPA is here to support players in their transition to retirement 💪
At our 2026 Past Player Summit, we checked in with some recently retired NRL and NRLW players to see what the next chapter looks like and how our Past Player & Transition Program can help them.
The RLPA is pleased to announce Tim Gordon has been appointed Chair of the RLPA Board.
Tim first joined the RLPA Board as a Director in 2023, bringing a wealth of experience having advised a range of clients on transactions, corporate governance and regulatory matters.

2026 Grand Final Reunion 🫶
As part of the RLPA’s weekend celebrating retired players, we welcomed the retiring class and other past players together for a reunion.
Connection is one of the five main focuses of the Past Player & Transition Program, recognising the significant changes to players’ social lives as they transition from rugby league.
That's a wrap on the 2026 Past Player Summit.
Each year, the summit introduces retired players and their families to the RLPA's Past Player & Transition program.
Across the day, they learn from each other, our player transition experts, keynote speakers, and some of the service providers who will be supporting them over the next decade in the next chapter of their lives.
“On behalf of the RLPA, I’d like to congratulate Daniel Tupou on an incredible career,” said Jamie Buhrer, General Manager of Past Players & Transition at the RLPA following Daniel’s retirement announcement.
“Toops started his NRL career not long after I did, and I’ve been fortunate enough compete against him and watch while he built an extraordinary career over such a long period of time.
“To play more than 300 games, represent New South Wales, Australia and Tonga, win four Premierships and finish as the third-highest try scorer in Premiership history is an incredible legacy. To then finish his career by winning a fourth Premiership in his final game is a fitting way for him to bow out.
“The legacy Toops leaves extends beyond everything he achieved with the Roosters. He has helped inspire a generation of young Tongan and Pasifika kids who have been able to watch him represent his family, community and heritage on the biggest stages in rugby league.
“Congratulations to Toops and his family on an outstanding career. We look forward to supporting him through his transition out of professional rugby league and welcoming him into the RLPA’s Past Player & Transition Program.”
Honouring a legacy ❤️
Over the weekend we celebrated the incredible careers of NRL and NRLW players who have recently retired.
The RLPA is proud to welcome all players who have recently retired to our Past Player & Transition Program, where we're here to support them in the next chapter of their life.
“On behalf of the RLPA and all players, I want to congratulate Ali Brigginshaw on an extraordinary rugby league career and thank her for the enormous contribution she has made to the game,” said Clint Newton, CEO of the RLPA.
“Ali has been one of the defining players of the modern women’s game. She has been there since the beginning of the NRLW and has helped drive the competition forward through her performances, leadership and the standards she has consistently set.
“She has represented her club, her state and her country with enormous distinction. For so many young players coming through, particularly young girls, Ali has been one of the players who showed them what was possible.
“Ali’s achievements speak for themselves. But what has always stood out to me just as much as what she achieved on the field is the responsibility she accepted as a leader and the courage she showed when things became difficult.
“Throughout her time as an RLPA club Delegate and Women’s Player Advisory Group member, Ali was an incredible, respectful and relentless advocate for her fellow players. She contributed to some of the most difficult and high-stakes discussions with the NRL, including throughout collective bargaining negotiations, and never wavered in her support of the players, the RLPA or me personally during some of our most challenging periods.
“When you are going into battle, you learn very quickly who you want standing beside you. Ali is someone I would want in my team every single time, regardless of the opposition or the challenge in front of us. Her loyalty, courage and willingness to stand up for what she believed was right are qualities I will always respect and be personally grateful for.
“Ali leaves the game stronger than she found it. Rugby league, the NRLW and the players who have followed her are all better for the contribution she has made.
“She should be immensely proud of the legacy she leaves behind. We wish Ali and her family every success and happiness in the next chapter of her life and look forward to welcoming her into our Past Player and Transition Program.”
