On Christmas Eve 2013, I phoned then Minister @lraitt concerned for safety of ships in the Great Lakes. Facing the worst icing conditions since 1979, she made the difficult operational and political decision to redeploy #CCG assets from the Maritimes to the #GreatLakes temporarily.
