JUST IN: Legal immigration from Canada to the U.S. has skyrocketed +142% since Trump returned to office, as immigration from most other countries rapidly declines.

I am bewildered, and not very impressed, by the visceral, naked, irrational hatred spat out by some defenders of Jason Arday. If a Cambridge professor is accused of being an unqualified charlatan, the accusation might be racially motivated. On the other hand it might not, depending on the evidence. The correct question to ask is not, ”What is the colour of his skin” but “Is it in fact true that he is an unqualified charlatan?” Please examine the evidence before leaping to the assumption of racism.
As for the idea that journalists “piled in on him” and “hounded him to his death”, most attacks were against Cambridge University. Jason himself was widely regarded as an unfortunate victim of foolish promotion way beyond his ability to cope. In appointing him to a professorship for which he was manifestly unqualified – in ludicrously describing him as “the best in the world” – certain senior members of the university showed a level of patronising condescension towards black people that could fairly be described as racism, while at the same time making him tragically vulnerable to such attacks as came his way.

Friends from Toronto sent me this. Apparently, this was seen on the 401 heading south this past week. – at Calgary, Alberta

He was always the substitute drama teacher who accepted an acting role as prime minister. It is a forever stain on Canada that such an individual held power for 10 years.
In a sane world, governments exist to improve the lives of people (at a minimum). The worst incidents of my life all stem from the provincial and federal governments repeatedly punishing me financially for being successful in ways that make you feel trapped in a Kafkaesque prison of despair. I realize that many Canadians benefit from the system, and hence will exhibit zero empathy but in a just world, this reality should not be tolerated. It can't be that a government owns 65%+ of all of your worth once all taxes are added up. Send me good vibes. Going through a very difficult time.

Samuel de Champlain was one of Canada’s greatest founders. This tearing down of statues must end.
Instead, we must celebrate the history of Canada.
Tell our stories, sing our songs, and remember those who built this great country we call home.
That is how we will build up an even stronger Canada.

Following a very difficult meeting with my accountant, I just found out how much it is going to cost me in terms of an "exit tax" to leave Quebec and Canada. No human being in a free society should have their hard-earned money stolen in this manner. I'm genuinely numb. I'm speechless.

When I was a law student in Ottawa, the local Chabad ran Friday night dinners out of a rabbi’s living room. Students everywhere. Total chaos. Total warmth.
I wasn’t religious. They didn’t care. They just welcomed me.
Years later, Lindsay and I helped build a Chabad center on that campus.
Chabad shows up for Jews everywhere. With love. With pride. With zero judgment.
No matter where you are in the world, if you’re Jewish, there’s a Chabad rabbi and rebbetzin opening their home for you.
That is extraordinary. And I’ll always be grateful.

It’s impossible to overstate the brilliance, resilience, and ingenuity of Israel.
A tiny country surrounded by belligerents, that in just over two years has largely eliminated the leadership and military capacity of Hamas, Hizbollah, and now the regional superpower of Iran.
I will never forget being at the Auschwitz death camp to commemorate the 65th anniversary of its liberation. After the Mourners’ Kadish, a squadron of IDF F-15s flew over the camp at low altitude, piloted entirely by the grandsons of Holocaust survivors. Chills.
In moments such as this, one truly grasps that “never again” is not an empty bromide.
It is Israel’s raison d’être.
It is what led to today’s astonishing intelligence and military success.

Senior Israeli security official: More than 40 senior Iranian security & regime figures were killed in the opening strikes this morning. This is one of the largest regime "decapitation operations" conducted in modern warfare history. Israeli intelligence managed to infiltrate the Iranian security echelon. H/t @TreyYingst

Oh my god.
The regime’s Chief Justice—who executed thousands of protesters by hanging during the Woman Life Freedom uprisings and recent protests—has been eliminated.
I swear on everything, his elimination is the greatest justice of all.
I cannot believe this is real.

The regime in Tehran is the principal source of terror in the Middle East and around the world. It tried to build nuclear weapons to annihilate our allies. It massacred tens of thousands of its own people. It orchestrated the attacks of October 7, 2023, murdered Canadian passengers on Flight PS752, sought to kill prominent Canadian leaders, and ruthlessly targets Canadians of Jewish and Iranian descent. It has shown no good faith in negotiations to change course.
That is why Conservatives support the courageous people of Iran in toppling this terror regime and reclaiming their destiny after 47 years of the regime's occupation. Conservatives support a democratic, free and permanently-denuclearized Iran that lives in peace and security with its neighbours. And Conservatives support the United States, Israel, and our allies across the Gulf to defend their sovereignty and dismantle the clerical military dictatorship of Iran.

For 47 years, Iranians have been waiting for this moment.
Presidents on both sides of the isle avoided this.
This is a VERY HEAVY decision on the President that comes with a ton of burden.
If & when we succeed, the world will be a safer place.

Wow. Surprisingly good statement from Prime Minister @MarkJCarney.
“Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.”
I say surprisingly because it’s a real departure from the usual moral equivalence tropes typical of the past decade in Canadian foreign policy.
Full credit where it’s due.
