Antonio Inoki presenting Mark Coleman with the WWF World Martial Arts championship following Coleman's KO win at PRIDE 13 on March 25, 2001. Inoki won the title for the first time in 1978 and held it until 1989 for a combined 4,000 days. Looks pretty good on Coleman, though!

Antonio Inoki with ex-Yakuza (allegedly still a shot-caller in secret), businessman and PRIDE financial backer Hiromichi Momose. And a naked woman. The next Bom-Ba-Ye entry comes out Saturday the 19th at 12:00 PM EST.

Sorry that it's been so long! College and life did quite a bit to slow me down, but it means that I was able to put a lot of research and work into this next edition or two. Can't wait for everyone to see it!

ICYMI: The intro post to "#BomBaYe: Redefining Pro Wrestling in the J-MMA Boom" went up on August 21st! In it, I present a brief overview and introduction to "Inoki-ism", the intersection (and history) of wrestling and MMA, and the narratives around it! partsunknownpress.com/2021/0…

Not excited about the NJPW/NOAH press conference. Best case is a string of dream matches, worst case is the Sugiura-gun takeover all over again. If it's *not* a crossover then there's probably not much to get excited about. Won't pass judgment before it happens, though.

It's been a bit due to college work, but I'm hard at work on the next chapter - an introduction to Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2000, a short history of PRIDE and wrestlers' contributions to the birth of MMA, and why the event is important! I hope to have it up next Saturday!

In case you don't know what being trans on the internet is like: I made this account last night, and I woke up to a message calling me a slur sent *within the hour*. It took less than 60 minutes. Is this an achievement?
