Youth participation in environmental decision-making goes beyond having a seat at the table; it’s about ensuring young people’s voices and recommendations help shape the policies that affect their future.
The County Youth Forum (CYF) under Sheria ya Vijana (SYV) and the @KYCA_Council under Sikiliza Sauti Yetu (SSY) held a joint meeting to review the National Environment Policy and develop a memo with recommendations.
The engagement provided an opportunity to reflect on the policy, identify areas that need attention, and contribute youth perspectives towards strengthening environmental governance in Kenya.

This morning, we were honoured to deliver our oral statement as observers during the 48th Ordinary Session of the #ACERWC.
We brought an intersectional feminist lens to the conversation, challenging the structural inequalities and power systems that continue to deny children, especially girls in all their diversities, their rights, dignity, and agency.
We continue to push for accountability beyond commitments and for a continent where every child can exercise their rights and shape their own future.

Our legit heroes live in history, memory, the raw beats, the urgent spoken word, the canvases splashed with truth, and the voices that refuse to quiet down. Art is how we hold onto what matters. It keeps the fire alive when the noise tries to drown it out.
This Mashujaa Day, we gather at Alliance Française for the Mashujaa Love Fest (Sanaa na Haki) from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
We show up our heroes and defenders. Because history lives in us, and the work continues.
Hatujasahau. We remember.
Entry is free. Bring your people.

Today, FEMNET and Faith to Action Network marked an important step forward with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by FEMNET Executive Director Memory Kachambwa and Faith to Action Network CEO Rev. Jane Ng’ang’a, strengthening our shared commitment to advancing gender justice, women’s rights and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) across Africa.
Through this partnership, we will work together to strengthen meaningful engagement between women’s rights organisations, faith actors and cultural leaders, create spaces for dialogue around shared SRHR priorities, and advance advocacy that responds to the realities of women and girls across the continent. The partnership will also create opportunities for joint advocacy, mutual learning, knowledge and narrative building, and amplification across our networks and platforms.
Together, we are building bridges between feminist and faith movements and strengthening collective action towards bodily autonomy, gender equality and reproductive justice.

On 7 September, @Zamara_fdn held a Safe Space session with teen and young mothers in Mtwapa, creating space for honest conversations on identity, well-being, relationships, parenting and healthy boundaries.
Young mothers deserve care, support and spaces to prioritise themselves while navigating motherhood. Because when young women know their worth and have the support to make informed choices, they can shape healthier futures for themselves and their children.

Abortion is essential healthcare. Abortion is a human right.
Then, why do restrictive laws still push women and girls into unsafe care, create fear among healthcare providers and stand in the way of dignity, autonomy, health and equality?
This International Safe Abortion Day, we call for laws that protect not criminalize.
For abortion care that is safe, accessible and dignified.
For reproductive autonomy without criminalization.
For every woman and girl to exercise her rights without fear.
The work continues.

We did not go to New York simply to participate. We went with questions. But more importantly, we went with demands.
Over two weeks, @Zamara_fdn engaged spaces where decisions on multilateralism, development, financing and human rights were being debated, bringing feminist analysis, research and the voices of women and girls in all their diversities into the room.
The work does not end when the General Assembly closes. We take the conversations home. We take the demands home. And we keep organising.

INFORMATION IS A RIGHT. ACCESS IS POWER.
Today, on the International Day for Universal Access to Information, we reaffirm a simple principle: people cannot meaningfully participate in democracy without access to information.
From public budgets and government spending to policies and decisions that shape our everyday lives, citizens have a right to know.
Access to information enables people to ask questions, demand accountability, challenge decisions and participate meaningfully in public affairs.
When information is withheld, accountability suffers. When information is open, accessible and understandable, citizens are better equipped to hold power to account.
An informed citizen is not a spectator. An informed citizen is a participant.
