I wanted to make this video to speak directly to those of you who might have reservations about me becoming leader.
Every candidate has to earn your trust, and I am no different.
So let me tell you about why I'm ready to lead.

Strong communities start with strong families.
The SDP supports policies of tax fairness for parents, better local services, and revitalising our high streets.
A party that truly puts our family and community at the center of politics.

I see that Ellie Rofe has joined the SDP leadership race. I am, however, still committed to the @WilliamsAdamUK camp.

Congratulations, also, to Vic Holmes, the new @SDP_EoE Secretary.
Best of luck to the @Amanda_M_Hunter the new Chair for @SDP_EoE

I am pleased to see that MPs have defeated the bill for assisted dying.
It is now our moral duty to tackle palliative care head on, and give the most vulnerable people in our society true dignity in their final days.
Our job as politicians is to improve people's lives, not take them away
Today, once again, a bill not fit for purpose returns to the Commons. A bill that would force people at the end of their life into the false choice between an assisted death or poor palliative care.
This is not the moral choice Britain should choose.
Instead every effort should be placed into overhauling and funding palliative care. To ensure that our loved ones have true dignity in death, and can spend those precious last moments comfortable and surrounded by those they love.

The European Court of Human Rights does not work for Britain anymore.
What was once set up to help those fleeing conflict in Europe has led to all of Asia and Africa having the right to come to our shores and claim asylum, with only a portion being from genuine conflict zones, with cultures far different to ours, and many safe countries passed through.
It is time we pulled out and wrote laws that make sense for Britain. 🇬🇧

We need to end the snobbery around not going to university. Trades, practical skills and every job that serves the community deserve the same respect.
That’s why our policies encourage massive investment in skills here at home, rather than relying on hiring from abroad. 🇬🇧

Massive swathes of the British public have been completely ignored on immigration.
They know it creates more competition for housing and jobs.
They know it transforms areas where family and friends once lived.
They know how opposed to British values many migrant cultures can be.
It’s not unexpected that elements of the public feel they must make their voices heard.
But if you want a party with the policies to stop the boats and end mass migration, then look no further than the SDP. 🇬🇧

SDP councillors are the backbone of our political project. They are the only councillors in the areas they serve who truly represent the views of the people there.
They understand how deindustrialisation and social issues affect communities, and they are the only ones with realistic answers to the issues facing their communities.
Councillors, we thank you. 🇬🇧

Decades of offshoring have gutted British industry. The SDP stands for re-industrialisation, protecting domestic jobs, and keeping wealth at home.
We need local candidates ready to put these economic policies onto the ballot paper.

Being a political party costs money, and all parties must deal with that messy reality. However, some do it with more integrity than others.
Labour and the Tories are funded by sectional interests and a number of other parties are funded by sectarian interests. We can see from the news fresh allegations over the funding of Reform.
The SDP is a grass-roots patriotic party with a forty five-year history, and we are a party of volunteers, funded predominantly by members’ donations. If you want to rebuild Britain for all of us, consider joining the SDP.

Following the resignation of William Clouston as Party Leader, the SDP has appointed Ross Baglin as Interim Party Leader.
"For almost a decade, the SDP had the best leader in British politics in William Clouston. I was privileged to work closely with him for most of that time....I will not be a candidate for that leadership contest but, as interim party leader for the next few months...and help ensure the party operates smoothly while the new leaders election takes place."

Our party is currently in a stage of change it has not seen in almost a decade, but whatever comes next, our core aims remain the same.
Improve the living standards of the British people.
Make choices for the future, not just today.
Preserve our British way of life and identity.
It’s that simple. No other party currently offers this, and we will continue to fight for this until the end. 🇬🇧

The Falklands are British, their people identify as such and are no different to anyone on the mainland.
We are the only party willing to do the defence investment to maintain this reality. 🇬🇧🇫🇰

When looking at the wealthiest states in Europe with the best quality of life, they are not ones where the state controls every aspect of people’s lives and the economy, nor ones where it leaves everything to the private sector and fails to invest in its people or infrastructure.
It is the nations that take the best of both: letting companies thrive while investing tax revenues back into the people and infrastructure that help the nation thrive even more.
This is the Social Democratic model, and it is what we believe in. 🇬🇧
