Saying "you support international law" whilst supporting a President breaking international law - means you don't support international law. Really basic stuff - but this is how badly this Labour Government are scraping the barrel. And it all undermines international law.
Replying to @YvetteCooperMP
2/ As the Prime Minister has made clear, we support international law. Our collective focus must now be on achieving a transition without bloodshed to a democratic government in Venezuela that respects the rights and will of its people.

I’ve watched several @ZackPolanski videos and interviews over the last few days and I have to say… feeling a bit of hope for the first time in a very long time.

Stick a fork in me - I’m done. My crush on @MarkRuffalo has now reach obsession levels. So refreshing to hear such passion, solidarity and humanity. Brilliant 👏

I’ve written to Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper demanding urgent action to ensure the safety of the Global Sumud Flotilla. 52 boats carrying aid and peace activists to Gaza. The UK must act to assure their safety. Israel is committing a genocide. All eyes are on this flotilla.

I can’t help feeling there are people trying to start civil war in the US. Before we even know who did this and why (apart from probably being mentally unstable) the reactions against the perceived ‘side that perpetrated this’ may start. 😞
Judging by the shamefully opportunistic & politicizing rhetoric of some rightwingers on this hellsite, & their cynical use of Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder for political point scoring, it’s almost as if Rep. Melissa Hortman wasn’t murdered by a MAGA maniac just 12 weeks ago.

Sickening. It’s just escalating and no ‘side’ will be safe. Kirk was someone I vehemently disagreed with but this isn’t justifiable, and as a young widowed parent I feel for his own young family.

Palestinian self-determination is an inalienable right, not a bargaining chip. While children starve to death, Keir Starmer refuses to expel the Israeli ambassador, impose full trade sanctions, enforce a full arms embargo or end surveillance flights. It’s Labour’s genocide too.

BREAKING!!! - 11:18PM UK time; I am with the flotilla online. They have just been reached by the Israel speedboats - 5 vessels circling the flotilla. The captain is instructing the team to stay calm and seated, with their passports and life jackets on. I hear them speaking with Israeli soldiers as I type... telling they are carrying humanitarian aid and go in peace. For the time being they are just circled. I am with them, recording everything.

In which case.. maybe she will turn on BL et al? As they maybe said they’d protect her legally for handing over the info but then didn’t. And what SJ did is more civil than criminal, so if she helped BF nail the BL conspiracy they could choose not to sue her for her actions?

Any new movement needs to avoid the word ‘change’ as their leading idea/slogan, I believe. It’s been so overused and can mean anything. Better to go for progress, development, mutual benefit, improvement etc. I think ‘change’ has become a bit toxic in politics.
Me too! I had the honour to interview @andrewfeinstein last year, & canvassed for both him & @jeremycorbyn. What they have in common: people QUEUING UP to knock doors for them -this is unusual!- and constituents respect and admire them, also to an unusual degree. Good men.

What Trump was he’s ‘ungrateful’ because he hasn’t allowed Trump to leverage the US support of Ukraine to get Ukraine to sign a deal that is not in the Ukraine’s best interests… The only thanks Trump understands is the financial kind 🤢
How EMBARRASSING for Trump. CNN just played clips of President Zelensky thanking the United States on multiple occasions after Trump claimed Zelensky was ungrateful. Marco Rubio had no response! It’s worth a watch.

Something I find confusing is I keep seeing ppl reposting stuff from right wingers that I don’t want to read, so I go to the acct to see who they are & unfollow them. They seem to be lefties. So why are they reposting them? Are they? Or is something else going on?

1) Assad wasn’t armed and backed by the West. Israel’s genocide is directly facilitated by our governments. Hence the protests. 2) The ICC has no jurisdiction in Syria because it’s not a member state. Palestine is, hence jurisdiction. You’re welcome!
The gruesome details of Assad’s torture chambers now being revealed. In truth the barbarity of his regime has been long known. He merely continued the killing/torture fields of his father, which were also well-documented. Of course, not a dicky bird thru all these terrible decades from the International Criminal Court. No protest marches in London of a Saturday. Silence from the Stop the War trots. Not even Queers for Syria.

“My name is Amos Goldberg. I am an Israeli Professor of Holocaust Studies. For nearly 30 years I have researched and taught the Holocaust, genocide and state violence. And I want to tell whoever is willing to listen that what’s happening now in Gaza is a genocide. A year ago when October 7th happened, like all Israelis I was in shock. It was a war crime and a crime against humanity. 1200 people - more than 800 of them civilians - were killed in one day. Children and the elderly were among those taken hostage. Communities were destroyed. It was outrageous, traumatizing, personal. Like most Israelis, I know people who were killed, who lost loved ones or whose loved ones were taken hostage. But immediately afterwards came Israel’s response and within weeks thousands of civilians were killed in Gaza. It took me some time to digest what was unfolding before my eyes. It was agonizing to confront that reality. I was reluctant to call it a genocide. But if you read Raphael Lemkin – the Jewish-Polish legal scholar who coined the term ‘genocide’ and was the major driving force behind the 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention – what is happening in Gaza now is exactly what he had in mind when he spoke about genocide. It does not need to look like the Holocaust to be a genocide. Each genocide looks different and not all involve killing of millions or the entire group. The United Nations Genocide Convention explicitly asserts that genocide is the act of deliberately destroying a group in whole or in part. Those are the words. But there does need to be a clear intent. And indeed, there are clear indications of intent to destroy Gaza: Israel’s leaders - including the prime minister and the minister of defence - and many high-ranking military officers, media personalities, rabbis, as well as ordinary soldiers were very open about what they wanted to achieve. There were countless documented incitements to turn the whole of Gaza into rubble and claims that there are no innocent people living there. A radical atmosphere of dehumanization of the Palestinians prevails in Israeli society to an extent that I can’t remember in my 58 years of living here. Now that vision has been enacted. Tens of thousands of innocent children, women and men have been killed. Over a hundred thousand were wounded. There is a near total destruction of infrastructure, intentional starvation and blocking of humanitarian aid. There are mass graves and reliable testimony of summary executions. Children that were shot by snipers. All the universities and almost all hospitals are gone. Almost all the population is displaced. There have been numerous bombings of civilians in so-called ‘safe zones’. Gaza does not exist anymore. It is completely destroyed. Thus, the outcome fits perfectly with the stated intentions of Israel’s leadership. Lemkin - that scholar who coined the term ‘genocide’ - described two phases of a genocide. The first is the destruction of the annihilated group and the second is what he called ‘imposition of the national pattern’ of the perpetrator. We are now witnessing the second phase as Israel prepares ethnically cleansed areas for Israeli settlements. And therefore, I have come to the conclusion that this is exactly what a genocide looks like. We don’t teach about genocides in order to realize it retrospectively. We teach about it in order to prevent it and to stop it. But like in every other case of genocide in history right now we have mass denial. Both here in Israel and around the world. But reality cannot be denied. So yes, it is a genocide. And once you come to this conclusion you cannot remain silent.” - Statement to Led By Donkeys, December 2024 - Photo: Parliament Square, London, 8.40am, 4th December 2024
