👉For the first time, costs and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) effects associated with RSV in healthy term infants and their caregivers in a community setting in four European countries have been evaluated.

Our research highlights the significant cost and HRQoL losses associated with RSV. These findings can help quantify the disease burden of RSV and inform future decision-making regarding interventions to protect young children from this disease.

The choice between a maternal immunization or monoclonal antibodies depends on the level and duration of protection, price, availability and age-specific RSV-attributable hospitalizations in very young children, which should be based on the latest available evidence.
