My first book review. So damn nervous reading it.
But - it’s very positive!
Publisher’s Weekly calls it a “punchy, self-deprecating invitation to break the rules.”
HELL YES🍻

76% of youth football defenses are zone, not man.
Where coaches put the zone defenders:

Old School Chalkboard is free in the RC Football play designer this week.
Shown: 7v7 Smash. The hitch holds the flat defender low, the corner runs behind him. Read him, throw the other one.
New one every Sunday at 8pm PT.

Thanks for the mention @BuyingSandlot 🏈
With the growth of flag football, there aren't enough resources to support the skills needed to develop quality amateur coaches at all levels.
We're addressing this with what we build, and excited to see the @NFL investing resources here as well
Is the @AZCardinals beating the @RamsNFL today in LA the biggest upset of the NFL regular season so far?
(Especially given their offense was fully healthy)
My vote is yes. If not, which game is bigger?
The 60-second flag football parent meeting. Mid-season is when you need it.
1. Cheer after the whistle, not during the play. A 7 year old can follow one voice. Make it the huddle's.
2. Playing time questions come to me, not the group chat.
3. The car ride home is for snacks, not film review.
Say it at the next practice, before anyone needs to hear it.
What's rule 4 on your team? 👇
The most-drawn routes in 5v5 flag this fall:
1. Go
2. Drag
3. Out
4. Slant
5. Swing
In 11v11 tackle the Go is even bigger: 21% of routes.
What's your team's best route?

"Who's got it better than us? Nobody!"
Jim Harbaugh
His dad's line. He shouted it in the 49ers locker room after wins, and most youth coaches save that feeling for the trophy.
Say it after the loss. Say it at a cold weeknight practice with six kids and one ball. A team that hears it on a bad day believes it on a good one.
Nobody has it better than a kid who gets to play on Saturday.
What does your team shout when the huddle breaks? 👇
What youth coaches asked the AI for this fall:
A trick play: 20%
A play to beat a coverage: 8%
A red zone or third down call: 6%
One trick play a game is great. A man beater and a zone beater win more Saturdays.
What's your trick play?

Spread or Trips?
Spread is the most-drawn formation in youth football this fall: 43% of 5v5 flag coaches, 75% in 7-on-7, 27% in 11v11 tackle. Trips is second.
Which one does your team line up in?

Pick your problem, pick a drill, add it to this week's practice plan.

100,000+ high school girls played flag football last school year. Up 48% in one year.
Bloomberg on the NFL's $192 million bet on flag, and why it's working.
Repost for the athletic director who keeps saying "maybe next year."

4th and 5, down four, 3:26 left. The Eagles crowded the sticks. Lawrence threw the fade over the top. Parker Washington, one hand, TD.
Every defense creeps up on 4th down. Pick your 4th-down play on Tuesday, not in the huddle.

Kyle Hamilton ended it in OT by doing one job: sit in the middle, watch the QB, break on the throw.
Your flag defense needs that kid. Not chasing a receiver. Owning the middle.
"Eyes on the QB. When he throws, you go."

The plays youth football coaches call most this fall:
1. Mesh
2. Four Verticals
3. Flood
4. Inside Zone
5. Mesh Wheel
6. Quick Game
Is Mesh in your playbook?
The Halftime Report: omaha.rc-football.com/8CzFCy…
