🎉We have a new Mayor in town! Cllr Janet Evans has been elected as the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea for 2026/27 at this evening’s Annual Council meeting, succeeding outgoing Mayor Tom Bennett.
It has been an amazing first few months as Mayor of Kensington & Chelsea. I have loved meeting so many wonderful residents, and supporting community organisations across the Borough.
Thank you for letting me a part of your special events. Take a look at what I've been up to:
Happy Emergency Services Day! 🚨It was my pleasure to be joined this morning by a number of 999 heroes who serve in Kensington and Chelsea, and to take a moment to honour their lifesaving efforts by raising the flag from the Town Hall.
Ahead of #ArmedForcesDay, I was honoured to be joined by members of our Armed Forces and veterans to raise the @ArmedForcesDay flag at Kensington Town Hall.
We, in Kensington and Chelsea, are proud of our strong links to the Armed Forces.
Thank you for your service.
On #WindrushDay, we celebrate the huge contribution the Windrush Generation and their descendants have made to life in our borough.
I joined members of the local community to celebrate their stories, recognise their contributions and honour their enduring legacies!
Also appointed were Ms Cordelia Evans as Mayoress, Mr Gerard Hargreaves as the Mayor’s Consort and Revd Prebendary Jenny Welsh, Vicar of St Mary The Boltons, as the Mayoral Chaplain.
The Mayor has chosen The Kensington + Chelsea Foundation as the mayoral charity for the year. For more information and to make a donation, visit: thekandcfoundation.enthuse.c….
Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim residents in RBKC and beyond.
May this Eid bring peace, happiness and prosperity to you and your loved ones.

The spirit of civic pride and community service was on full display last night as I hosted a special ceremony to celebrate the winners of the 2026 Mayor's Awards.
I was honoured to present 8 winners with their certificates in recognition of their exceptional community service.
Many congratulations to these community champions and thank you for your outstanding contribution to local life in @RBKC.

To celebrate #CommonwealthDay, the Commonwealth flag is flying at Kensington Town Hall!
Happy Commonwealth Day 🎉 to everyone celebrating in @RBKC and across the globe! 🌎
Honoured to attend and participate in the opening of the CHUMS Centre on the Henry Dickens Estate.
Congratulations to Jill Brown and CHUMS on the opening of the centre and thank you for the incredible work you do to support lone and vulnerable residents in the community.
Last Friday, the Mayoress and I had the pleasure of officially opening House of Flavaz - a wonderful new Caribbean restaurant and venue in North Kensington. It is always great to see new businesses opening in the borough, especially when they serve such delicious food! ☺️
What an evening! It was my honour to attend the Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster Regional Final of Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge and witness the tremendous talent of the next generation.
Thanks to @SpeakersTrust for creating a valuable opportunity for young people.
