genuinely humbled to get blended by nones melee jank on stream in project+ 🙏🏾the goal is to repeatedly put your opponent in situations where they are completely fucked, just like in traditional fighters

I recently saw a critique of floorhugging in rivals where someone said it broke the rules of the game. one response was: "as if the platform fighter genre wasn't build on a bunch of rule-breaking of traditional fighters!" it wasn't popular, but the poster's right: a list:

im not including basic additions like platforms, ledges or DI. im talking about how offense, defense, and neutral are balanced generically.

actually number three should be that there are oki frames on getup that, if covered by the attacker, cannot be blocked or throw teched. sure in traditional fighters you can have unblockables looped on oki but TYPICALLY those are character specific, not rules overall

being negative on hit isn’t rule breaking you just need more kusoge in your blood

the phrase "for sale: baby shoes, never worn" has a pretty good run, but i think i can make it more efficient. with only 2 words, "baby died" is a much more optimal sad story

more importantly he has more than a single narrative and a single personality trait that are relatively clear from his visual design !

in general rivals has a more is more philosophy which is a fun space to play in and does develop fans. but it needs an editor to refine down the most key complexities to come out. it’s the reason ragna the blood edge doesn’t have as many fans as sol.
