It is hard to be sovereign when someone else owns all your means of communications. We put a CM5 on this @RAKwireless 7391, with a couple of LoRa and LTE modems. Now we are going to see how hard we can compress it and how far we can push it. @AaronRDay @cjtrowbridge @MeshtasticLoRa

As LoRaWAN® deployments scale, one question becomes important: who manages the gateway configuration?
When the network server and gateway management platform both try to control the same configuration, you can end up with conflicts, repeated retries, and wasted cellular data.
With LORIOT, the responsibilities are separated:
LORIOT + LORIOT Edge Agent (LEA) manage the network layer, including LoRaWAN and CUPS configuration and zero-touch provisioning.
RAK WisGateOS 2 + WisDM manage the gateway fleet layer, including firmware updates, remote SSH, cellular signal visibility, and SIM management.
LORIOT manages the network. RAK manages the fleet. One owner per layer.

80 gateways. A security audit. SSH and HTTP ports open by default. The auditor says: lock them down in two weeks.
RAK Open/Close Port manages gateway traffic rules: close ports, restrict access by IP. Deploy it remotely from WisDM, gateway by gateway, no SSH required.

More power can mean less range.
A 22 dBm Meshtastic station holds 1 to 3 km in a city. A 1W station mounted high held 12 km.
But outpower the nodes around you and they hear you while you never hear back. Height beats wattage. f.mtr.cool/f9ojkkgqln
RAKwireless is heading to @electronicaFair 2026 in Munich, 10–13 Nov.
Find us with edge lab LIVE! at Hall C5, Booth 100 to talk IoT at the edge.
What are you building or looking to improve at the edge right now?

200+ gateways. Streetlights. Poles. Rooftops. Memory leaks build up over weeks. Performance degrades. The fix is simple: reboot. The problem: you cannot SSH into 200 gateways every Sunday at 3am.
Operation and Maintenance schedules automatic reboots and monitors cellular connectivity, remotely, gateway by gateway. Deploy it from WisDM, no SSH required.

Just wrapped at The Things Conference 2026 @thethingsntwrk
Gavin Brown joined the panel on designing and manufacturing reliable LoRaWAN devices.
He shared clear, practical lessons from prototype to production.
What teams should do.
What they should avoid.
And what actually scales when you’re building devices in the millions.
Happening now at The Things Conference 2026.
Xose Pérez is on the Main Stage breaking down how to get real operational visibility across thousands of gateways and how AI speeds up troubleshooting when deployments scale.
If you missed the keynote, swing by Booth L11 at De Kromhouthal.
Let’s talk #LoRaWAN! @thethingsntwrk
Last day at #TTC2026, and Day 1 made one thing clear:
The question isn't what hardware to deploy. It's how to manage thousands of devices once they're live.
That's exactly what our team at Booth L11 can help you figure out. Today's your last chance to connect in person.
Book time with our experts:
- Carl Erick Rowan (linkedin.com/in/carlrowan) - modules for LoRaWAN® & WisBlock
- Xose Pérez (linkedin.com/in/xoseperez) - Product dev & open-source IoT
- Gavin Brown (linkedin.com/in/gavin-brown-…) - Custom deployments & enclosure design
What's been your biggest takeaway so far?

40 gateways. WiFi backhaul. A router reboots overnight. The router recovers. The gateway's WiFi interface does not.
WiFi Reboot monitors connectivity and auto-restarts the WiFi module when all tests fail. Deploy it from WisDM.

- 22 dBm or 30 dBm/1W
- With or without GPS
- 800 MHz or 900 MHz regional options
Use the high-power version only where regional regulations permit.
