UCSD told workers they can only afford 85% of the typical number of TA jobs next year. Meanwhile, the UC Regents voted to give Chancellor Pradeep Khosla a $500,000 raise. @UofCalifornia has the money for our contract. They just lack the will to implement it

An entire building at Bronx Community College has no HVAC, lots of leaks, lots of mold, and one person has a hole in his office ceiling. Trash from upstairs sometimes falls through this hole.

Staff are working in person at School of Professional Studies....while 100% of students are online. Why do workers need to be there physically if there aren't any students there to benefit from their presence?

We're asking @BrownUniversity to bring back public reporting of COVID rates on campus, as they've told us to expect "significant levels of Omicron transmission" this spring. Why not report unless you've got something to hide? Sign our open letter here: buff.ly/35avkYb

Not the main point of the chart, but it's also a useful illustration of the politics of school catchments. Sorry, this is going to be very wonky, but tldr private "investments" in public schools aren't just inequitable, they actively disrupt the whole system.
Drexel/Penntrification, catchment area by catchment area (darker blue dots = higher property values)... inquirer.com/news/penn-lea-s…

“Now more than ever, we need faculty leaders willing to use tenure protections to ask hard questions and push back against bad policies, which makes this kind of mass malaise dangerous to shared governance.” chronicle.com/article/the-gr…?

Last Monday we asked MIT admin for voluntary recognition of our union, supported by a majority of MIT grad students, & invited them to work with us as allies in making a better Institute. We still haven't heard a decision about despite #MITGSU being public & vocal for 3 mos.(1/2)

A great victory for our union! It’s official: Starting in January 2022 USM union members will be paid at least $15/hour! 🔥 We hope the minimum wage increase will be extended to ALL campus workers, including contractual and student workers. washingtonpost.com/education…

I spoke w/ @odowdpeter from Here and Now on @NPR about the student worker strike at @columbia, where admin has threatened to permanently replace us if we're still on strike tomorrow. Also I managed to sneak in a story about Moby Dick, a career highlight 🐳 wbur.org/hereandnow/2021/12/…

The starting minimum salary for a TUPD officer is $47,350 PLUS "guaranteed overtime". The starting minimum salary for a licensed Staff Therapist (w/ a Masters) at the Tulane Counseling Center is $52,000. Tulane currently has 100+ police officers and only 7 staff counselors.

If you are not a SWC member and you showed up to support our picket yesterday, 12/8, we need your help. The University is falsely alleging that picket participants were "violent." Please add your signature below to attest that there was no such violence. docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…

@MeldeKathleen It’s simple. We pay EVERY worker back for any lost wages because of the furlough (regardless of whether it was a pay cut or hours). It the most equitable, compassionate thing to do.
With our strike, our events boycott is on! We ask all events to be moved off Harvard Zoom and property and not cross our picket lines. Thank you for your solidarity, @LeahRAbrams .💚 If you wanted to hear Leah, call the Provost and tell them to agree to a fair contract.
