❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🦷🦷👉 Update! Wild n' Wild and Red's Dividend are at the end of their quarantine. Last week their teeth were floated and they were vaccinated and nasal swabbed. Red was also checked for pregnancy and she is not in foal thank goodness. This week their feet will be trimmed. Soon they will be headed to @Mereworth_Farm Farm in KY where they will be retired and forever safe. Both were rescued from the Stroud, OK lot. Neither deserved to be there, both deserve to live and be taken care of. Their lives matter! ❤️❤️

Countless thoroughbred mares are ending up at cheap auctions and then feedlots/kill pen. Our organization has rescued many of them. Sadly one thoroughbred mare died this past week at a feedlot. It is a disgrace and cruel what is happening to these mares. Stop wanting to increase the foal crop until you take care of the first problem. The long term welfare and safety of the mares that give life to the industry must be the priority first and not creating more horses that may meet the same fate.

❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🙏🙏👉 Update! Brilliant Missy and N P Burns arrived safely at quarantine last evening. Both are thin. They are both munching away on hay and drank quite a bit of water. Both are sweet girls although Burnie is more standoffish. Per the lot Burnie supposedly had a foal weaned from her recently which from what we can tell it would not have been a TB foal. Regardless, think of the trauma, having your foal separated from you then ending up at a cheap auction and then a feedlot. We all must demand change and protection for broodmares because it is flat out wrong what is happening to them and continues to happen. 😢💔 Bizzar Brown lost her life because some uncaring person or persons, bred her, dumped her and then she ends up at an auction then a feedlot aborting her foal. The mindset of so many breeders that these mares are just disposable has got to change. These mares lives matter and if you do not think so then you have no business owning or breeding horses. Period. We have a good idea for a program for mares to help circumvent them ending up in the auction/slaughter pipeline but the Thoroughbred industry must invest the funds and in the infrastructure to accomplish it. So many positive things could be done to protect the horses better but where is the Jockey Club? ☺️❤👉 Update! Brilliant Missy (Tattoo R13637), N P Burns (Tattoo Q17635) and Partyinslowmotion (O05505) have been picked up from the TX lot about an hour ago. Look at them, how innocent they are. All served the Thoroughbred industry and none of them deserved to end up at a feedlot. Bizzar Brown should have been on this trailer too but she sadly died at the feedlot 💔 N P Burns has taken her place so in BB's honor at least we could save another mare's life. Missy and Burns will be going to STES for quarantine and then Missy will go to Happened By Chance and Burns will remain at STES. Partyinmotion was placed by a private party and we have helped to arrange her transport to Hunt, TX. 🔥Folks, things have got to change for these Thoroughbred mares that served the industry. They deserve to be safe after their breeding careers have ended. Stand up for them. Contact the Jockey Club, Breeders Cup and whoever else you know in the industry to demand protection for them. 💔💔💔💔😢😢😢 We were notified late today that Bizzar Brown aka BB passed away at the lot. To say that we are absolutely heartbroken is an understatement. We could see BB was in very poor shape when she first arrived at the lot and she had lost a foal. After bailing her we had the lot put her in a separate area with hay and water.The lot said she had been eating and drinking. We have no more information than that. It has been a difficult week in more ways than one and trying to get transport, then we rescued Brilliant Missy at the same lot so had to fundraise for Missy. We finally secured transport today. In the meantime, a new Thoroughbred mare came in to the same lot today named N P Burns. We are rescuing NP Burns to now take BB's place. Although, we do not defend feedlots, we do know that many of the horses they buy at lower end auctions are already in horrific shape because of previous abuse and neglect. We don't know if we could have gotten BB transported to quarantine sooner if she would have survived long term or not and sadly we will never know now. We do know that we do not want BB to have died in vain. That is why we are posting her deceased picture. The best thing you can do to honor her and to help other Thoroughbred mares that keep ending up at lower end auctions/feedlots is to contact the Jockey Club and state breeding associations in your state and demand that they provide the funding and create the infrastructure that is needed to protect these mares that served the industry. And to hold people in the industry accountable when they throw these mares to the wolves. We do not know who is at fault for BB ending up in the condition she did and in foal, we do not think it was a TB foal but mostly likely a crossbred. Regardless, she did everything that was asked of her and she sure as the hell did not deserve to die at a feedlot. She had the kindest eyes. It absolutely breaks our hearts that she died alone at a feedlot. 💔😢💔 And for the person or persons that abused and neglected her and then dumped her and her baby, may there be a special place in hell for people like you. 🔥 From the winner's circle to the breeding shed to the cheap auction and then the feedlot. Exactly. There is no long term plan for Thoroughbreds because the industry is so ingrained with the mindset of what they think their worth is NOW. And when they perceive their worth as no longer beneficial to them, then get rid of them and on someone else's dime as quick as possible. The horses deserve better than this and protection. Period.

This is where the Jockey Club and industry's ongoing injustice and disconnect regarding the broodmares comes in. Every year there are countless Thoroughbreds mares ending up at lower end auctions and kills pens. We have rescued countless Thoroughbred broodmares over the years and there has never been any industry funds provided to help them. These mares gave life to the industry yet when breeders feel they are no longer useful, the mares lives do not matter anymore. This disregard for these mares lives is despicable and unacceptable. The broodmares deserve protection when their breeding careers are over and not thrust in to the auction/slaughter pipeline. There are programs that could be put in place to circumvent mares from ending up in the pipeline in the first place but the industry must invest the funds and the infrastructure to protect them. To promote increasing the foal crop when the industry has not taken care of the broodmare issue is just wrong. You cannot and should not create a second problem when you have not taken care of the first problem. There is no getting around this issue and it must be addressed. The broodmares deserve better than this and by God they have earned the right to be protected and spared a brutal death.
