Dear security folks: Making people change their passwords, pins, etc., periodically is pure security theatre. If anything, it actually harms security.

This would be a lot more entertaining if Pfizer's HQ was still occupying the building.

Ferrari's "BMW moment". Where you take some of the most iconic designs to ever grace the streets and shit all over them in the name of progress and a new design language.
Ferrari’s first electric car is finally here: Meet the Luce. • 1,035 horsepower • 2.5 second 0-60, 192-mph top speed • Most aerodynamic Ferrari ever The Luce starts at €550,000, or about $640,000. What do you think? motor1.com/news/796895/ferra…

This is an interesting signal. I don't think an economy has recovered from this scenario. A collapse is inevitable without something happening, that has never happened before. How long until collapse is more a factor of how far ahead we can print and 'float'. Could be just a few years, could be decades. But, inevitable...without something unprecedented intervening.

David f*cking Goggins, what a line… “When your entire day is fucked up, make sure that you achieve something positive before lights out. You’ll probably have to stay up a bit later to read, study, get a workout in, or clean the house. Whatever it takes to go to bed in the black, get it done.“
What’s a line from something you’ve read that you find yourself repeating in your head every now and then?

In the world of FOSS, where Linux reigns supreme, this is a losing strategy. Esp when there is a multitude of other distros to choose from.
Ubuntu Planning Mandatory Age Verification Ubuntu & Elementary OS developers are planning to add age verification functionality, in a way which impacts all Linux users, to comply with a new California law.

🧠 Alzheimer’s may be linked to gum bacteria, new research shows. Yes, the disease might not come from your brain at all — but a oral infection. Emerging research suggests a surprising connection between gum disease and Alzheimer’s disease, offering a potential breakthrough in understanding—and possibly preventing—one of the most devastating brain disorders. Scientists have found Porphyromonas gingivalis, the bacteria responsible for chronic gum disease, in the brains of deceased Alzheimer’s patients. In lab experiments, mice infected with the bacteria developed hallmark Alzheimer’s features, including amyloid beta, a protein long associated with the disease. Even more striking, toxic bacterial enzymes were found in people with early brain changes linked to Alzheimer’s—well before any symptoms appeared—hinting that the infection may trigger damage years in advance. This discovery is fueling hope for new treatments. One experimental drug, COR388 (developed by Cortexyme), has already shown promise in reducing both the bacteria and amyloid beta buildup in animal models. While more studies and human trials are needed, the findings support the idea that Alzheimer’s could have an infectious component, not just a degenerative one. For now, researchers are cautiously optimistic—but the implications are big: maintaining good oral hygiene could do more than preserve your smile; it might also help protect your brain. Interesting observation.
tech debt is now a depreciating liability ship fast, create tech debt, in 6 months better code gen will make it easier to clean up than it is now

The only reason the Iranian revolution might actually succeed this time is because most of the Islamic radicals have left and now live in Britain.

This is a brilliant metric.
If you're naked on your front porch and the neighbors can't see you, its rural. If you're naked on the front porch and the neighbors call the cops, it's suburban. If you're naked on the front porch and the neighbors ignore you, its urban. If you're naked on the front porch and your naked neighbor (also on their front porch) waves at you, it's Florida.

I love how just "having standards" has become offensive.
🚨 LMAO. KASH: If you want to chase down a bad guy, you better be able to do a pull-up. SEN. HIRONO (D): There are concerns that being able to do these kinds of harsh ‘pull-ups’ is really required of FBI agents. KASH: Doing one pull-up is not HARSH…🤨

The phrase "no one is coming to save you" is never cliche I am sympathetic to the struggles of younger generation, but there is no savior and never will be. In the past the lives of men could be brutish and short, now we have tools of infinite leverage, and especially in the USA, a universe of abundace that is unmatched by any in history So its fake and ghey and filled with comfort and inflation and things are expensive Okay. If you want a different world, you must make it yourself. All the talk of revolution and upheaval and masculinity and warrior spirit and men being dangerous is meaningless if you cannot find the WILL in yourself to be the MAN of Action "society did this and that to us!" And? What you will concretely DO then? The past is the past and nothing is being remade. Become something or dont, choice is yours.
This is absolutely spot on. When I drifted from the world of leftism, I was disgusted with the constant whining. Over time, I became more right-wing, expecting the Goldwater-esque conservatism of my grandfather. Instead, I found more whining. Seriously has appeared to me that some subversive elements have attempted to "Marx-ify" the American right -- and that their effort has been a wild success. Now, there appears to be no true political camp for serious "anti-whiners."
