#BookReview: In the end, Billy Summers has an ever-beating heart and a light at the end that feels uniquely optimistic to King against his backdrop of bleak stories. It’s one of his most human stories, and for that, I love it. thequilltolive.com/2025/11/2…
Trying to read Robin Hobb again ...

I wanted to focus on books that seemed to place climate change front and center. One of these is Artificial Wisdom. Unfortunately, while it does ask some interesting questions, the build up left much to be desired. thequilltolive.com/2025/12/0…
Despite some hiccups, A Tangle of Time is still very fun. Bancroft is a real master when it comes to interesting themes and characters. He also has a strong grasp of what makes a compelling mystery, and it’s very easy to get drawn into the mystique. thequilltolive.com/2025/11/0…
#BookReview: A Tangle of Time was a very fun concept: how do you investigate a crime that is literally shifting away from you every time you get close to a lead? It created a strange, palpable tension in the story:

Of Monsters and Mainframes was a heart-warming queer monster story that didn’t overstay its welcome, and left me with enough to think about that I wanted to tell y’all about it. thequilltolive.com/2025/12/0…
#BookReview: Thief of Night @hollyblack
Whether it’s the full throttle plot or the complicated dynamic with her tethered shadow, Thief of Night is a hard book to put down, and it goes by way too fast. But all the best things do, don’t they? thequilltolive.com/2025/11/1…
#BookReview: Alchemy of Secrets is wonderfully weird and wacky. It’s got a super-fast plot that blurs the world around you, like the Technicolor swatches of palm trees and billboards passing you by when driving on the 405. thequilltolive.com/2025/11/2… @StephanieG67893
#BookReview: The Stephen King bell ringeth once more, this time for Billy Summers. It’s a more grounded tale for King, putting a hitman front and center without any direct supernatural interference. And, by jove, it works quite well! thequilltolive.com/2025/11/2…
I have numerous gripes with Katabasis, but I want to offer them within the context of what I enjoyed about the book. The writing was beautiful, and Kuang has a talent for a turn of phrase, especially when ranting about the tumultuous academic world. thequilltolive.com/2025/12/0…
#BookReview: Alchemy of Secrets is a fun, magical mystery that is full of secrets that spill out all over LA's art deco bars & movie lots. If you’re a fan of Stephanie Garber’s earlier work, I think you’ll easily make the jump and enjoy this #fantasy. thequilltolive.com/2025/11/2…
I generally have issues with mystery novels and when Artificial Wisdom turned into a murder mystery I knew I was going to be in for some personal frustrations. thequilltolive.com/2025/12/0…
#BookReview: KATABASIS
Katabasis is so bloated with ideas that it crumples beneath the weight of its own philosophy, to the detriment of its characters and plot.

#BookReview: Of Monsters and Mainframes is a fun ride with very memorable scenes. It had an ability to conjure emotions in me that I wasn’t prepared to deal with, but I am glad it was able to break through some of those walls. thequilltolive.com/2025/12/0…
#ICYMI: The Best Books of 2025 is here! thequilltolive.com/2025/12/1…

2025 has been a fabulous year for #fantasy books and this is no exception!
For many of you who have been waiting for the release of The Strength of the Few, book two of the Hierarchy, I am here to give you the good word. And the good word is that it’s good.
@SagaPressBooks
