this is very kind. it took 4 years to make “the meaning of life” and is still the most grueling animation & photography i’ve ever gone through. i got wrecked. it now sort of feels like i spent those 4 years hypnotized and sad. and then when it finally came out, nobody liked it 💁🏻♂️
Monday Short: Released between two very different masterpieces, Don Hertzfeldt's 2005 short The Meaning of Life is still the kind of film most animators go their whole career hoping to create—funny, thoughtful, cynical and gorgeous in its own unique way.

That said, I'm glad the studios are opened up and I want to wish everyone a great Lockdown! 🐭Screening at Contemporary Calgary on June 4.
