Having this is a flex! When I grew up I was inspired by my elders cuboard because it was full of their own preserves!! I wish I was encouraged to keep that going, I wish I had the knowledge of the benefits. Commercial canning and grocery stores saved time but that time was turned around and used at a job working for someone else to buy more canned foods full of harmful chemicals. Again, her pantry is a flex and new goals. #Inspirenaire

History shapes how people interpret images. For Black Americans, visuals that resemble nooses, ropes, trees, or hanging bodies do not exist in a vacuum. They echo symbols once used to terrorize entire communities and remind Black people of the violence they could face for stepping outside the boundaries America imposed on them. 🖤
Intent and interpretation are two different things. But before dismissing the reaction as “overdramatic,” it’s worth understanding the history that made that reaction possible. 📚
